12% ???

Amazingly, among Republicans Obama still
manages to hold the support of 12%.
  Gallup poll

Excuse me, but how in hell are there any Republicans, let alone 12%, who support Obama? That's akin to 12% of Catholics agreeing that L. Ron Hubbard died for our sins, and pray to Mecca 12 times a day.  Here's every single way I can think of that Gallup could come up with that figure.
  1. These Republicans are from Maine
  2. Illegal aliens who don't understand English
  3. Gallup, embarrassed that 103% of black voters support Obama; shifted 12% to "Republican" column
  4. Hey, thats how the darts landed.
  5. 12% of Republicans were screaming "support deporting" when they pushed the # sign.
  6. The RNC was mistakenly polled.
  7.  ?

A few more reasons:

Sometimes people shift ideologies, but keep their party affiliation.

Some people register with the opposite party to vote in their primaries, figuring they can do more damage that way.

Half the people are of below-average intelligence.

I don't understand the whole Maine thing. I wonder where they get these votes. I have a girlfriend from Maine (Bangor area) and have been up there many many many times and met her family, their friends, etc.

With the exception of the...well, excuse me for saying it, but except for the blacks and the Asians (the former of which, atleast, are contributing to serious drug problems) moving in, I'd say it were about 90% Conservative.

Btw, I know the Maine thing was mostly a joke, I just could never figure out how Maine tilts so far Blue. Plus, everyone up there hates those two hen Senators from the state.

Having a Republican tag is useless. <any, many people were born into it and never changed their stated affiliation, even though they identify with Libs.

If this were a poll of Conservatives it might be curious.

Must'a been a butterfly ballot, and they thought they were voting for Pat Buchanan.

The head of the ACLU in Florida is a registered Republican, and he says it is just so he can mess with the primaries in his heavy Republican district.
