I sold my last business and left Connecticut (yay#1!)last March.
About 25 years ago the city of New Haven took everyone on welfare and gave them city jobs primarily helping new welfare clients get welfare. After the inevitable white flight, New Haven was the 9th poorest city in the nation, and would have been in the top three like Bridgeport except for Yale, which is tax exempt but actually is the biggest contributor to the local economy.
What will happen when the Federal welfare payments stop is something I actually look forward to watching from a 2000 mile distance.
New Haven had Eli Whitney, A. C. Gilbert, and Winchester arms and used to be THE place where the feds bought military weapons. Sikorsky helicopters is a couple of towns over, Norton (bombsites) is just north.
In general, CT is probably the classic example of what libtardism will do to an American city. -
