I saw this article online. The comments were fascinating. The digital version of crayon. If there hadnt been guns in the house they wouldn't have tried to steal them. Thus, the guns are the problem.

Every girl must know how to handle a weapon. There would be much less crime if that were the case. I find it hard to believe that the scum wanted to steal a "pink" rifle...

Skip the search, just go to your "safe room" (You doooo have a safe room, dontcha? You know, where you can lock yourself in, call 9-1-1, and shoot anyone who tries to break in.) An 11-yo + two rounds of .22ca against three intruders? Sounds about right, but I'd reco 8rnds of 12 or 20-ga #1 buck + a bandoleer. -

I second what anonymous said above about the Appleseed Project. My first thought when the story said the girl just learned to shoot was that she probably attended an Appleseed event. It is hands down the best $70 you will spend for shooting instruction, and you get to learn something about your heritage at the same time.
