@Casca -- Monroe Doctrine went out the window when Woodrow Wilson pushed the U.S. into completely unnecessary participation in WWI.
Additionally, the last time a Latin American dictator pointed nukes at us we had the Cuban missile crisis. That time a Red Army brigade commander on-site had authority to launch if one Yankee Marine set foot on a Cuban beach.
I suspect this time, no "adults" will have access to the nuke launch codes.
We are cursed to live in interesting times.
