Today's mind boner

Juicy Prose
Steven Colbert says “reality has a well-known liberal bias.” It must be nice living in a two-dimensional universe in which reality can be regarded, and measured beyond all meaningful dispute, with a simple glance. I guess that’s the payoff for anyone with the courage to catalogue all disagreement as mythical, plug his ears and go “la la la” anytime an inconvenient truth comes along.   Memo For File CXI

And Gerard Van der Leun  begat for me KaChing!, which bade me, "go to the  House of Eratosthenes, and there find your Mojo!, or maybe a nice chicken salad."  And I did.

True, all of it. I was nearly overcome today by the Obama miasma.  This essay, by  Morgan Freeberg at House of Eratosthenes, gave me a much needed mind boner.    Here's a bit more.

The second sentence in the movie Braveheart is profound: “Historians from England will say I am a liar, but history is written by those who have hanged heroes.” Our history is indeed written by our liberals. Think back: In 2008 and 2006, along with 1992, and 1974, Republicans got their asses reamed. How does history record these years? As Republican ass-reamings. How do we recall the years in which the democrats got their asses reamed? There was 2004, 2002, 2000, 1994, 1980 and 1968. These are…”periods of civil unrest.” Turmoil. Confusion. Despair. Chaos, weeping, wailing and the gnashing of teeth.

Well, it must be quite the shot in the nuts to have two political assassinations within months of each other. But reading back on it, I doubt like the dickens this is why 1968 is recalled as a tumultuous year. Not that I’m saying it wasn’t one. But color me skeptical on the idea we’d be recalling 1968 as tempestuous, if the liberals won another round. Yes, as things are, it is an accurate assessment to say ‘68 was a wild one. But it’s also a masking-out, a lightning-rod move…an effort to keep another point from seeing the light of day. Yes a couple of assassinations did take place in 1968 — but another thing happened too. We got tired of the democrats screwing everything up and we voted ‘em out.

And we got tired of them, because everything they touched turned to crap. The “race relations,” the war in Vietnam, the failed prosecutions against violent criminals who were determined to do all the raping and killing they could…and, under left-wing stewardship, were allowed to. We got fed up, and that is the real reason 1968 was filled with such “unrest.” [more smiting be here]

Obamacare won't cover Votemout®

Gonorrhea Lectim (gunna-re-elect-em)  The Center for Disease Control has issued a warning about a new virulent strain of this old disease.

Many contracted it in 2008, but only now are they realizing  how destructive this sickness is.  This is sad because it is so easily cured with a new procedure just coming on the market called Votemout!

You take the first dose in 2010 and the second dose in 2012 and simply don't engage in bad decision making again!  Otherwise the disease could become permanent and eventually wipe out all life as we know it.

Several states are already on top of this such as  Virginia,  New Jersey, and most recently,  Massachusetts!  Many more are seeing the writing on the wall. Please pass this important message on to all those bright folk you really care about.

AT&T to Book $1 Billion Cost on Health-Care Reform

Barry the Clown

AT&T Inc. will book $1 billion in first-quarter costs related to the health-care law signed this week by President Barack Obama, the most of any U.S. company so far.

A change in the tax treatment of Medicare subsidies triggered the non-cash expense, and the company will consider changes to the benefits it offers current and retired workers, Dallas-based AT&T said today in a regulatory filing.

....  joins Caterpillar Inc., AK Steel Holding Corp. and 3M Co. in recording non-cash expenses against earnings as a result of the law. Health-care costs may shave as much as $14 billion from U.S. corporate profits, according to an estimate by benefits consulting firm Towers Watson. AT&T employed about 281,000 people as of the end of January.

“Companies like AT&T, that have large employee bases, are going to have higher health-care costs and, therefore, lower earnings unless they can negotiate something or offer less to their employees,” said Chris Larsen, an analyst at Piper Jaffray & Co. in New York, who rates AT&T shares “overweight” and doesn’t own any himself.

AT&T previously received a tax-free benefit from the government to subsidize health-care costs for retirees, who would otherwise be on a Medicare Part D plan. Under the new bill, AT&T will no longer be able to deduct that subsidy.

“As a result of this legislation, including the additional tax burden, AT&T will be evaluating prospective changes to the active and retiree health-care benefits offered by the company,” the carrier said in the filing.

I saw this WTF blurb on DRUDGE yesterday.

From the first day of his occupation, Obama's job approval rating has steadily eroded, and been in negative territory for months.  But, wait!  After engineering The  Great Government Takeover, detested by  landslide numbers of voters, we are to believe he's out of the pit of death, in a flash"!"

Real Clear Politics uses unweighted polling averages from all players. Adding one spoiled egg with two fresh eggs leaves you with spoiled mayonnaise.  See if you can find the historically, way wrong, in-the-tank democrat  rotten eggs in this olio. I know.  Democrats rail against Rasmussen's polling technique, algorithms, results, and the neckties he wears, but unlike everyone else in this list, he's almost always right.

Members of the Democrat Party Media Complex famously use jiggered election polling results to encourage Liberal voters, and discourage Americans,  Then, in the last days before the reckoning  they will come down to earth.   But, presidential approval polling is a free ride for the unscrupulous, since there is no accounting. So, as it is in all things politics, it's wise to take one's character into account in these matters. Oui?

I can't account for the CNN anomaly, except that they no longer know what they're doing, nor where they want to go.
