Icebreaker

Norwegian Icebreaker
heads up the Mississippi River

In case you didn't realize how cold it is in the Midwest, thought you would be interested in this.

Norwegian Icebreaker heads up the Mississippi River

As you may have seen on the news it's been very cold in Minnesota .  So cold, in fact, that the US Corp of Engineers has borrowed a Norwegian Icebreaker to clear the Mississippi River for freighter traffic.  The Icebreaker is starting near Winona and working its way northward.

Here is a
picture as the hard work of ice breaking begins. Impressive!

Googled it to see the "news". Very funny, but your post is missing the pictorial punchline. :)

Some serious shrinkage goin' on, there, boss.
'Course ... a guy who'd do that can prob'ly afford some.

My advice (remembering my Michigan-wintered childhood) is to keep movin', son. If the broken lane starts freezin', you have a problem. Usin' that axe at less than arm's length could result in permanent shrinkage.

Looks like a damned Swede to me.

I miss the good old 1600s when they used to hold ice fairs at London on the frozen Thames.

It is indeed a bit brisk this morning here in Minnesota. With the wind chill, we have -20's temps. My truck was a LITTLE grumpy about starting this AM.
