Villians, Pundits, and Bad Chili

Stuff

  •  The Seahawks evidently believed the ESPN All-Stars when they said en masse that Bears QB Jay Cutler  was a sack of crap.  Doo-Dah, Doo-Dah
  • I used this recipe for Cornbread Topped Chili Con Carne last night.  The cornbread sucked all the juices out of the chili and the whole mess wins the "Worst Crap Chili" Award hands-down!.  What was I thinking?  I remembered why I don't like corn bread too. Like eating sand.

Cornbread is just barely a step up from sawdust. Nice color though.

Cornbread is great IF you know how to make it. One tip; sub honey for sugar...

ADD Cheese and can of mexican style nibblet corn to the corn bread ..
a nice layer of cheese helps keep chili moist

Substitute spoonbread for cornbread. It comes out of the oven moist and stays moist, under ordinary storage conditions. No sand.

I make excellent cornbread in my iron skillet and it goes great with any number of vegetable meals but I don't have it with chili....Chili is a good place for corn tortillas or rice...or both.

Killshot is my favorite Leonard book and I have just about everyone of his novels in hardcover.

The movie was a somewhat faithful representation of the book until the stupid shoot out at the end. It totally went off the rails then. I don't know why the screenwriters think they can improve on Elmore Leonard's mastery.

Mickey Rourke is also one of my favs. I first noticed him way back in Body Heat. He still uses the same mannerisms and talk about going off the rails, he was way off for a while in the 90s.

If you want to catch a very quirky Rourke flick, check out Out in Fifty or Bullet. And to this day, Angel Heart and those damn fans is one of the creepiest movies I've ever seen. One of the best period piece movies too.
