Most people believe that nullification was rendered obsolete by the South's defeat in the War Between the States (War to Subdue Yankee Arrogance). However, that only ended succession. A final showdown regarding the rights of the several states under Federalism has been postponed since the 1850's. My fear is that few, if any Federal judges will rule in favor of restricting the power of the Federal government.
Our last disagreement over the power of the central government and the rights of the several states was colored by chattel slavery. This time the question will involve slavery of another kind. How far either side will go is anyone's guess.

In 'Disclosure' Donald Sutherland spoke a Chinese expression/curse. "May you live in interesting times." I think we have that in spades!

Montana's Legislature has started looking into nullification as well!

I gots me an idea. When Idaho and Montana separate from your federal communist government, so will we up here in Alberta from our federal commies. There's just over 3M of us, 1.5M in Idaho and another 1M or so in Montana.
We three join up, then we invade and conquer those left coast fairies in BC and Washington state and then ...
Well, Rodge, we'd need a King, and all we could afford for a little 5M person country is a fake French one, so ... you in or what? King of Idamonterta? Montidaberta?
A bunch of us here in Texas would agree. Might be a problem with all those Yankee soldiers and airmen at Ft. Hood, Ft. Bliss, Ft. Sam Houston, Randolf AFB, etc.
We missed our chance back in 1991 when Ft. Bliss and Ft. Hood were ghost towns after deployment to the sandbox. Timing is everything.

Rodge, you tipped me to that great movie, The Second Civil War,
"A very uncivil comedy", wherein Idaho and Montana secede from the Federal monstrocity.
Should be required viewing for Barn Armies everywhere.
