That would be why. People who are scared of force and don't use it, get used to it, understand how to use it, tend to overreact when backed into a corner, using the biggest, scariest thing at hand. You don't think, if Al Gore were president on 9/11, that he would have tried to make nice with the Taliban? Wrong response, of course, they would push even harder. What next? Al nukes them. Because he's afraid of looking weak, and doesn't want to "lose China". It's why the Democrats gave us WWI, WWII, Korea and Vietnam, and the Republicans gave us no wars to speak of, just "Police actions". Oh, the Democrats will use Force. They just wait too long and turn misunderstandings into brutal abattoirs....
