The white marble in the background is the United States Capitol building. This sign, and others like it adorn the west lawn.
I have no problem with freedom of speech, and believe the people have every right to take their case to their elected representatives. It’s even nice to get a chuckle out of an issue every now and then.
But I feel badly for citizens who spend their hard earned dollars to visit their capitol building, and take photos who have to include this subject matter. I also feel badly for those with young children who have to explain it.
These signs have been there at the end of March for the last three years that I know of. I understand that this issue is a big deal in the former Speaker of the House’s home district, but that was then. It just seems like someone on that hill could use a little common sense. - 3/30/11, 5:52 PM
