What is worse is how Congress reacts to the crap we import. A major toy company imports lead products from China. Congress passes a child safety bill which requires such extensive testing of the finished products, not the component parts, that small and cottage toy companies go out of business. It even becomes a felony to give a child a book published before 1984 because of possible lead ink. A first edition Peter Rabbit becomes contraband. Good Will stores and yard sales are impacted.
The company that started the mess gets an exemption and is allowed to rely on a Chinese laboratory for its testing.
And they just passed a food safety act that will destroy farmers markets and truck farmers.
The marriage of bureaucracy and crony capitalism but we are the ones getting screwed.

"Buy Mattel! It's Swell!" ... they have their own testing facility, but not sure if it is domestic or foreign located. They 'bought off' Congrefs to get the mumble[word that means permission to deviate from the 'law'] to do their own testing, rather than an independent lab. After they caused the problem in the first place as Freddie noted.
Don't buy Mattel would be my thought...
