Hadn't read the book in 20+ years. In fact I'll admit I didn't quite understand the picture then. The scenes in the movie brought passages of the book right back to me.

I hear reviewers calling the acting "wooden", but I thought it was apropriate considering the settings of boardrooms and business meeting, not to mention having to deal with the boorish lib characters.

I suppose the average Joe will get bored sans gunfights, explosions and graphic sex, but I've always been the guy listening to the lyrics, not shaking my ass to the beat.

I can't wait for parts 2 and 3 and it has pushed me to go back and reread the book.; 4/20/11, 2:30 PM
Anonymous said...: I loved the movie and heartily recommend it. The actress who plays Dagney Taggert is HAWT! It will likely not make as much sense if you have not read the book so do so first and you will understand it so much better.

I look forward to 2 and 3 also but, hope it does not take too long. Has anybody heard how it is doing in box office? With limited release it is hard to find.

Anonymous said...: Considering its limited release it is doing very well. 300 screens is not much nowadays. It did better than the makers expected and there were many theaters packed! I am happy with that. Of course lib critics and reporters will minimize as much as they can get away with (and then some).

Anonymous said...: Atlas Shrugged did about $5600 a theater for the weekend which placed it third behind Rio and some other movie. That is quite good, and the Hollywood idiots are shaking their collective heads at the AS marketing program. The producers only made enough prints for the screens they had on order for the release, and now they are re-printing at the rapid rate. Atlas Shrugged should be in a thousand theaters by the end of the month. It seems everyone underestimated demand. BTW, the movie was shot on a budget of $5 million.
