Nanny OS

Backwards-HO!
More=Less

Backwards-Ho Microsoft

This caused me to reflect on what other features Windows 7 gives me that are valuable, and not available on, say, Windows.  I can't think of any.  On the contrary, here, off the top of my head, are things I used to be able to do, but no longer can.

  1. Record anything from cable television, save it, and edit it at will, using Media Center.
  2. Use video capture software
  3. Use DriveImage XML to back-up my system
  4. Send data (like cam pictures)  to the disk location of my choosing, and not someplace in the hierarchy, never to be seen again (except by accident).

In short, Windows is now an extension of nanny government, beholden to interest groups who restrict the free use of personal files.

Bill Gates is a business thug who stole his first operating system, then used the money to buy and incorporate or stifle competitors. He is not some software genius. In fact, he has very little vision. If it weren't for Steve Jobs we'd still be waiting for the info tech explosion. Of course, Jobs stole his stuff from the Palo Alto Research Center. Thanks Xerox.

P.S. My only Apple product is my IPOD.

You can thank Windows 7's non-functionality in sound editing to the Zune.

MS spent a lot of money making their OS DRM compliant in order to get record company contracts for Zune.

Well ... now Zune is dead.

If you want to edit sound, pop over and download Audacity (http://http://audacity.sourceforge.net/)

FREE and works on both Windows and Mac.
Will allow you to use any standard VST effects as well as its own built-in effects.

Best damn diary and scheduling software ever was "Schedule+" from MicroSoft in 1995. I still use and love it. Everything since has been just a little bit worse every time.

Gates didn't go to college for programing or computer science, he went to Harvard for marketing. He marketed Windows very well.

That being said, for lossless audio encoding use FLAC. I will agree with TimO, audacity is great. Also available for Linux.

To get out from under Windows try one of the many version of Linux.

word verification "codic" (not codec, but close)

B...... made me think of this:

I had a buddy that went to the eye doctor and was having head aches. The doc told him that he needed glasses. He asked the doc how bad was his vision.
The doc responded "Do you have an HDTV?"

"Yes."

To which the doc responded:
"You wasted your money on it."

Read this lengthy blast:

Why I hate Microsoft

http://www.vanwensveen.nl/rants/microsoft/IhateMS.html

Gates has gotten everyone[almost] on the continual update treadmill. Developers get 'free' tools - that poach and displace standards others have agreed upon, and then release new versions of their software that cripple old versions forcing updates. Notice, I did not use the word "upgrade".
Too bad.
