Now the Tea Party out Stalining the Demon Rats???
SHAME ON YOU!!!
Economics 101: Businesses Don’t Pay Taxes. Ever.
by Joan of Argghh!
I’m rather aghast as I peruse the Right side of the ‘sphere to see a huge drumbeat of outrage focused on G.E. for not paying taxes. It turns out that they’ve worked diligently to take advantage of all sorts of sweet deals and write-offs, loopholes and artful dodges. That means more money went into the pockets of the shareholders and less went into the pockets of the government.
Does the Right really wanna throw down the “class envy” card with Evil Corporations as their target? Will the Tea Party types march in the streets and loot “big business” because it seems unfair, all of a sudden! that some big Corporation has a zero in a column of the “liabilities” side of the ledger? Breitbart’s place is like stepping into looney town. Beck’s place, TheBlaze, has the looniest of people all venting their frustrations at G.E.’s valiant efforts to reduce its tax burden. You’d think they’d be hailed as champions against Big Government, but they are reviled as crony capitalists. By the Right.
I woke up in a different world today, and it hasn’t gotten any better, I see.
Corporate taxes are merely a hidden tax on the consumer. You can legislate the details 100 different ways, but the accountants on staff get paid to keep the doors open and the profits flowing. Anything that shifts that balance against profit will come out in the pricing of the product. Pure and simple.
Elected representatives know that in taxing businesses, they are actually taxing you, dear ones. But it’s a game they play well, and the corporations suffer it to be so because it looks like “their fair share” and keeps everyone blissfully unaware of the true cost of their government.
Get a grip, people, before you start thinking that smashing windows and stealing stuff is a good strategy against a company providing jobs and products to keep the economy moving. If you don’t say something to the YouTwitFace crowd, they’ll start believing and doing whatever the hash-tags tell them.

But for extremely strong nexus between GE and Barky Obama, the Fresh Prince of Bill Ayers, Beck's complaints would be decidedly anti-conservative.
But I suggest you already know that; you just conveniently decided not to mention that little fact, which if you had, would have pretty much negated everything you just said.
You should go to Huffington Post because there get all kinds of kneeslapping jokes that can only be told if a critical element is left out.
As it is, I think Beck is a mowron who adds sensationalism to a debate, but not much ese helpful to conservatlives. - 4/3/11, 1:55 PM

Wabano - tax avoidance is an American sport, and GE just made All-Pro. No problem.
What we object to is 'welfare' for corporations, whether it's ADM's ethanol subsidy, GM's Volt being made sorta economically viable by attaching a $7,500 tax credit to the purchase of it, or GE getting TARP funds. The original intent of TARP (Troubled Asset Relief Program) was to bail out banks – which, of course, meant that GE wasn’t eligible for a dime of it. But then - looky there! - GE suddenly ‘discovered’ that it owned two banks in Utah. Both of those banks applied for TARP funds, both were approved and, just like that, GE was $80 billion taxpayer dollars richer.
That' taxpayer money, that's inflation that eats away at our incomes and savings, that's a 'business' the Federal Government has no damn right to get into. Damn George Bush and damn Barack Uhbama, and damn the US Congress for the biggest swindle in the history of earth.

You cant tax Corporations, you cant
tax the "rich", you only can tax EVERYBODY!!!
Is America really broke? Michael Moore (and others) tells us
that there are oceans of cash being hoarded by the wealthy.
But Iowahawk (iowahawk.typepad.com) did a little addition, and armed with
these statistics Bill and the 'Hawk blow a hole in the "hoarding" lie big enough to fit a
documentary filmmaker through.

Look like the trotskos managed to brainwash everybody! Iowahawk and Joan of Arrrgh! are the voices in the desert!
And the Volt is funny...if you can get an empty tank, you can get flat batteries. If they also freeze, you're out $20,000 versus
a $100 if it's your regular starter battery.
Who here did not have a battery freeze and warp on him? - 4/3/11, 8:05 PM
