Whupdidoo. Most of the stuff I had already done with FF3 customizing (put the bookmarks toolbar up on the same level as the menu to save a toolbar space). I put 4 on the laptop, but am keeping 3 on my desktop. It's not an improvement IMO. If I want a browser that works like IE, Chrome or Safari, I'll go install one of those.

Firefox 4's improvements are mostly under the hood (better rendering, more secure, improved standards compliance) but people want to see changes, so they copied some interface stuff from Chrome. Fortunately, it's very customizable, so you can fix what you don't like.
Instead of Chrome, use SRWare Iron. But if you prefer to have Google tracking your every move, by all means, use Chrome.
I assume people only use IE to show the world that they're dumb. Remember, 50% of the people around you are of below-average intelligence. They need a browser, too. - 4/2/11, 4:15 PM

Guess what ... If everything internet reverted to its state on 1-1-2000, I wouldn't miss squat.

I am like Anonymous, except I like the tabs above the browsing area. I have FF4 on my laptop, two of my add-ons don't work one of which I use all the time. The other I could do without but it makes life a lot easier. That one I don't think will be updated.
My desktop still has FF3.16 and I think I will keep it until I have to change. - 4/2/11, 7:00 PM

I use FF4 (Minefield) which is the 64 bit version on my laptop. It is much faster than the non-64 bit version and seems to be relatively stable. I have a couple of issues with plugins but, nothing I cannot deal with. On the whole, I wait for the non-beta version.

I switched and have adapted to 4 but I miss seeing how many downloads I have going and how long it will take to complete. That was on the bottom right of the screen.

I've learned a lesson about personal computers:
Call me a Philistine, but you don't actually have to try to use all the capabilities.
(What? Yes, I'm serious; and no, I do not have flashing 12:00s throughout my house.) - 4/3/11, 4:25 AM

FF4 is HTML5 compliant where FF3 is not. So when you run into webpages that are designed with HTML5 you will no be able to view them.
Also, FF4 has made their java engine much, much faster than it was already.
It also runs a lot leaner than FF3.
Give the addons some time. If people really like them, the writers of the original, or someone new, will pick it up and port it to FF4. - 4/3/11, 7:26 AM

Rodge, I only disagree with you marginally. WinXP was miles better than Win2000, but other than that, I'm with you. And don't get me started with MS Office 2009, which changed the familar Office toolbars into something I have no interest in re-interpreting. Which is why I went 100% over to OpenOffice, even though I have a sneaking suspicion that Larry Ellison may actually be Satan. - 4/3/11, 12:56 PM
