Her fashion statement was just at "gay".
When I was in the Army, we were shown a film about military courtesy. The film pointed out that when in uniform and greeting a lady, one should not tip one's hat (huh?), but rather one should "execute a hand salute." I remember the guys in the audience chuckling.
I feel sorry for the Marines who have to salute either one of those grifters.
Maybe he's covering his eyes...
Nice Cheesy! She would whip that boys ass if he didnt.
She's a man, baby!!
The salute by a military member is an expression of courtesy, and is usually rendered as part of a greeting in situations where the member wishes to show respect.
This is done in the same circumstances, and for the same reasons, as when a member would call a civilian "sir" or "ma'am."
To not do so, regardless of the reason, would be petty and churlish.

I'm thinking, in a more polite society, she's stop, tell him hello and thank him for his service to the United States. Otherwise, be courteous, instead of an arrogant wart on the ass of progress.
When in doubt, salute.

Yes, but did you read the article pointed to? It was so treacley sweet I could only get through two paragraphs and I nearly barfed at that.

Reaching for the hidden blade in the hat....
I used to hate saluting the wives of officers just because they had the blue sticker on the windshield.
Oh well, there is always the story about the old nomcom who always saluted the toilet when he flushed it.
... because Marines do their duty;
and, heck, somebody has to have some class around there.
Thanks, Doug. Couldn't be righter.

JLW III, I know. It was far too quite over the top. I noticed that and not even Rodgie's observation because after the first couple sentences I was off hurling.
