OMG! Everytime I hear about how the libs said Reagan was an idiot I think of that SNL skit. I don't even know how old I was (not very)and thought it was brillant!

When you (or your ghost) write a speech, you want it to be understood even by simpletons/tea-party members and therefore you dumb it down to a LOW Flesch-Kincaid rating (e.g. 7.4.).
Postdocs can write at Flesch-Kincaid 12-15, but will only be understood by a few bright geeks.
I remember the SNL skit where Belushi did Cocker. I was 22. Saw it on AFRTS in Korea.
Belushi doing Cocker was tied with Aykroyd doing Julia Child.

Correct. Stirring political speeches are kept simple and heavily cadenced.
Hitler's best speeches were all sub 7.0, and were meant for live, radio, and theater audiences, with lots of arm waving for the live and theater audience.
Lincoln's Gettysburg address was meant to be read in the newspaper, by literate people. ( He heavily cribbed from the Pericles Funerary Oration, BTW. )
Getting back to Main Street ... Sarah Palin is the real deal, if she wasn't, the Lib Press would have her leading the polls; her the favorite to of the GOP, her being endorsed by Al Gore. Ahem. The way I see it anyway.
That sketch was good. Probably more true than not.
Sarah is it. Unfortunately we'd be so busy listening to the communist bs that we'd never hear the truth. W was very bright, and he was quite the man. Not Ronaldus Maximus, but very very good nonetheless.
