Environmentalists baffled: Gulf Coast wildlife is thriving after oil spill

Nukem

Hmmmmm. Remember all those news stories that said the [Exxon Valdez] Deepwater Horizon oil spill was the greatest environmental disaster in history? You know, the ones that said the oil would devastate Gulf Coast wildlife for decades, that avian life would be decimated, that the Gulf Coast was a dead zone.

In the words of Saturday Night Live’s Emily Litella, “Never mind.” Turns out the Gulf Coast has never had so damn many birds.

Reporting from Sarasota: Do not panic. All is well.

Shore birds are vigorously propagating. Fish continue to be delicious. Diving off Key Largo is still amazing.

Have spent a bit of time there, after the Exxon Valdez spill, most of the damage to the environment in Prince William sound, was done by the clean up effort. Greenys recoil in horror at the thought of hydroloc mining , yet the strip mined the beaches of prince William sound's shores. Once beautiful and rare, in Alaska, white sand beaches in Elenore Bay are bare rocky shores; "cleaned up" at great expense, ruining the environment and micro climates there. to hell with them & an anyone foolish enough to buy into their crap!

Over thirty years ago there was a guy in my town that wore a t-shirt that said " NUKE THE UNBORN GAY BABY WHALES " . Never was sure what side of any other issue he was on, but I liked that shirt.
The lib-progs like to say Bush lied. People died. I say Obama lies. America dies.

Since a tonne of oil is equivalent to a little over 7 barrels of oil, on average a million barrels of oik seeps into the Gulf each year whether we drill or not.

... Studies in parts of the Gulf of Mexico (MacDonald et al., 1993; MacDonald, 1998; Mitchell et al., 1999), using these new technologies, have resulted in an estimated seepage rate for the entire Gulf of Mexico of 140,000 tonnes per year (range of 80,000 to 200,000 tonnes per year)...

Nuke the whales??? "Gotta nuke something!" "touche". I loved that episode. Lisa's crush on Nelson. Classic. Back when The Simpsons was funny.

"Nuke the Gay Whales for Jesus" was a short-lived T-shirt slogan. I think it was an attempt to cover everything in one shot.
