Gimme an "M" ....

Will Minnesota meet de Tocqueville?
GOP HQ - call your office

According to some observers, a terrible catastrophe has just struck the state of Minnesota. Due to an impasse on fiscal and taxation questions, the government of that state has been "shut down." On one side of the divide, you have Governor Mark Dayton, a tranquil (and some would say tranquilized) leftist who has been pushing for higher taxes as a way of solving Minnesota's budgetary deficit.

On the other side, there is the Republican-controlled legislature that, to its credit, have taken the rare step of actually displaying a backbone by pushing for spending reductions instead and by standing up to Dayton's efforts to further destroy Minnesota's economy. As of this weekend, the government of Minnesota "officially" is no longer open for business.

Of course, the talk of a government "shutdown" is largely hyperbole. It isn't as if everything government-related in the state has ceased to exist ...

In this instance it appears that Minnesota's Dem governor is allowing critical services to continue.  In the past congressional democrats have done the opposite; closing parks, the Smithsonian, etc. to show us how very much we need their fat bloated beneficence.  Hell, on at least one occasion they threatened to stop funding the troops in Afghanistan and Iraq in mid-battle. The truth is, that if 75% of government was shut down permanently, along with 96% of regulatory agencies, we'd be seeing boom times in short order instead of the BOOM times we all expect any time now. (I have to do this,  or eat ice bream and shoot squirrels.)

The Repukes want to raise spending 6% which means heartless cuts. The Demonrats want to increase spending 24% which means they love the little guys and children.

I would support Dayton if he would share his meds with me.

The parks are closed. The state lost Millios(!) over the 4th of July holiday. Dumb bastards. Governor Dayton is a putz.

No Anon, we have to drive someone else's cars. Hertz, made the mistake of giving me a supercharged Charger with 700 miles on it, once. I'm pretty sure it needed new tires when they got it back.
