Hello? We're fricken broke

McConnell gets McCalled out

Not thrilled with Mitch McConnell's plan to punt on the debt ceiling? Neither are TheDC's Tucker Carlson and Neil Patel, who write: "The debt limit plan designed by Senator Mitch McConnell is political engineering of the highest order:

Take a thorny issue with lots of angles, distill it to its political essence and come up with a way to minimize your pain and maximize your benefit. No, the plan doesn't reduce the size of the federal debt by one dollar. It doesn't limit government or expand freedom, nor does it punish President Obama for failing to do the same. It may, however, give Republican officeholders an issue to run on in the next election cycle. For that reason, many in the Republican leadership consider it brilliant...

Meanwhile, the laws of arithmetic remain unchanged. Last week, Standard and Poor's announced that unless Congress reduces the federal debt by $4 trillion, the ratings agency will be forced to downgrade America's bond rating. That would amount to disaster. Many of the countries and institutions that buy American debt could no longer do so if our bonds didn't meet their portfolios' AAA ratings requirement. The result:

the cost of federal borrowing would rise by trillions over time, adding to the debt spiral. A downgrade would also mean that rates on all sorts of non-government loans would rise as well, adding to the individual debt of all Americans and American businesses. How does the McConnell plan respond to this imminent and dire threat? It doesn't. Sen. McConnell and his growing band of Republican allies have apparently concluded that a debt downgrade is an acceptable cost of doing politics. It's not. It's horrifying."  [Daily Trawler]

In the meanwhile Border's Book Stores can't make expenses.  So they're closing all their stores. It's what happens in the real world, Mitch. Start closing agencies.

Screw raising the debt limit. Every time it gets raised DC spends it and then more and even more.

We are spending $300 Billion a month and taking in $172 to $200 billion. Unless you are using new math we are short a minimum $100 Billion a MONTH.

Close the EPA, BATFE, Dept of Education, DOE and pink slip the whole lot of them. Cut all remaining departments budgets and personnel by 20%.

Problem solved without selling any more of our country to the Chinese..

The only thing any politician seems concerned with is riding their personal gravy train as far as possible. They are exempt from the financial slavery they impose upon us. Why would they care? There need to be consequences. They know they can operate with impunity. They do so.

Start closing agencies?

Let me think of a few.

BATFE, HUD, ICE, Interior, IRS, Education and DEA come to mind.

ICE isn't doing the job, so we can all sign up to take sentry positions on the border with our black rifles, Glocks, 1911s, etc.

The others speak for themselves, and I have invariably left out a few.

How about our .338 Lapua Mag's. Would that be OK?

The real problem is that it's just fictional numbers to them. There is no reality in the federal budget....

Well it looks like there is a conservative movement in the Republican party in and out of the federal legislature to oppose McConnel's plan. They aren't going to form a third party but are threatening to oppose anybody who supports McConnel's plan with primary oppostion and a publicity campaign saying naughty things about them. What is the use of staying in office if the nation is no longer there seems to be the motto.

Perhaps we should ask the board members of Amazon.com if they would be interested in running the government?
