Mitch the Raging RINO

The Raging RINO
If at first you don't succeed, give up!

mitch the bitch
Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky offered a backup plan that would, in effect, guarantee Obama requests for new government borrowing authority unless Congress musters veto-proof majorities to deny him. McConnell said he was forced to introduce the plan because he didn’t see a path to an agreement so long as Democrats insist on revenue  increases.

A bitch's proposalUnder McConnell’s proposal, Obama could request — and likely secure — increases of up to $2.5 trillion in the government’s borrowing authority in three separate installments over the coming year as long as he simultaneously proposed spending cuts of greater size.

Significantly, the president's spending cuts would be debated under normal procedures, with no guarantee they ever come to a final vote.

Knowing full well the answer, I mutter "How long has this been going on?"

Mitch "Charlie Brown" Mcpussy hasn't figured out that Dem, esp. Uhbama, 'promises' are worthless.
"C'mon Charlie," said Lucy, "I won't move the football this time."
Don't even think about it Mitch, unless you get a passed bill, signed by Uhbama, cutting 4:1 up front.
Otherwise, let Uhbama swing in the wind, dangling out there for all to see, while he actually has to make a decision. No matter what Captain Bullshit cuts, there will be howls from wounded special interest groups and lost votes for his re-election.

I have a lot of respect for McConnell, mostly because he knows the game. It is not beneath him to play kabuki with Komrade Doofus. Forget what they say. Watch what they do.

" Forget what they say. Watch what they do."

Yup. Been watching them, since the early '60's. Crooks, liars, frauds, and perverts. The whole bloody lot of em.

Of the people. By the people. For the people. Couldn't be more true, or more well deserved... enjoy it while you can.

If you think every politician is a scoundrel, not only are you wrong, you're the bigger part of the problem. Many of them are, but a good percentage are not.

Casca is of course right. I make no pretense about my having gone around the bend when it comes to putting up with government games, even though games are part of the game. For the record I have stated that all Democrats and 50% of Republicans are cheats and liars. There's my wiggle room. And Casca, McConnell has been all too ready to reach accomidation on too many things to suit me. My benchmark is the fictional Sen. Ann Coulter/ (WWAD?)

Casca, you're either very young, very idealistic, very stupid, or an inconvenient combination of the three if you think -I'm- the bigger part of the problem. Love ya anyway, kid, and you'll learn.

Anon, you must be new around here. I am none of those things.

Elected officials are in a rigged game. You go in with idea you will do the right thing, make things better. But to make a difference you need seniority, to get seniority you need to be reelected, to be reelected you need more money than your opponent. To get money you need sponsors, to get sponsors you have to compromise a little. After all, how can you do good if you are out of power? Eventually you forget why you wanted power, you just use it to get more money. It becomes all about money and power. It just takes some longer than others to get there. After all they are human aren't they? They do the right thing when it works to their advantage, when by doing the right thing they get reelected and thus more power.

You're right Luigi, or as the bard of New Jersey said, "Old men want to be rich, rich men want to be king, and the king ain't satisfied until he rules everything."

Which brings me back to my original point that we need to support those who are mostly on our side until the conscience simply will not allow. I have learned over forty years of watching and playing the game, that McConnell is one of us. The notional Senator Ann is not bound by political realities.

Seniority. Aye, there's the rub...

Seniority may be nice when assigning office space, but has no place in the operation of Congress. The prime examples of the problem of seniority are the late Senators Kennedy and Byrd. Both stayed too long, and abused the power that accrued because of seniority.
Why do two senators from two of the smallest states have more say in the operation of congress than any other senators?
They should not.
Seniority should not be considered in committee assignments. It gives the "Professional Politician" too much power, and diminishes that of everyone else.
