off topic.......If I wasn't a birther, I would have become one today. Went to get my daughter a learners permit at the DMV when I called they said I needed a birth certificate and a SS card. I pointed out you can't use a SScard for id. they said it was to prove we are hear legally. I pointed out my children were BORN in Hawaii and we have the same type of cert. as obambi. So, though obambi showed 2 seperate birth certs( no they weren't the same) and that should be good enough to be president. my daughters bc is not good enough to get a drivers license in Hawaii. Somewhere along the line I fell through the looking glass....HELP!

I got similar service from my Nordmende Globetraveller, a German 11-band "portable" I bought the year of the great blackout in NYC, 1965. It worked on 5 D-Cells, though I'm sure your batteries last longer. AM, FM, Marine Band, and many SW bands.
It finally died for good in the year 2004, more than long enough to qualify as honorable service. Heck, that's even longer than my Beta tape player worked!
While it was excellent for power otages, I used it nearly every day. Great sound, by the way. Years ahead of its time. -
