The Future is NOW?

                           Okay, we're agreed then.
                        We'll tax Ni-62 and Ni-64
at the rate of $1200 mg.

So, WTF is this all about?  This!

5 Kilowatt Home Heating E-Cat
(Pending)

 5 kW E-Cat concept image

The five kilowatt E-Cat is still in research and development phase. Upon completion (2013), it will be offered for sale to the general public. The unit will provide a constant yet adjustable output of up to five kilowatts of heat (in the form of hot water). This large quantity of output is produced with only a very small consumption of electrical power. Like the one megawatt plant, it utilizes no radioactive materials, produces no radioactive waste, emits no radiation into the environment, and releases no pollution. The multiple built in safety features and the inherent nature of the E-Cat technology, make this system an attractive heating solution for homes or small businesses. More...

If this comes a cropper, which considering that a larger version is for sale today seems unlikely, another will emerge.  Cheap, unfettered access to energy is the bane of big government - everywhere.  As we speak this, similar, conversation is taking place on Capitol Hill.  Thanks to Angus for this tip.

I'll believe that when I see a testable working model instead of a CGI.

St Ann had an interesting say about nuclear hormesis a while back. Worth the read.

The E-cat patents have been nebulous at best and are probably not defensible. I haven't delved too deeply into this tech.. What I have looked into though screams "scam" to me.

WOW! I didn't realize that cold fusion had been proven as an accepted energy technology.

I must have missed the announcements of the two chemists who first proved it won the Nobel prize for their discovery.

We need to forward this company's product to all the greens, so they can be assured that all of the nuclear and coal power plants will be shut down if just a few years!

Bet the president of the outfit is an extraterrestrial running the blockade of earth to introduce embargoed technology!!!

I'm not sure you can trust those ex-T's about zero radiation, so I'm going to wear my tinfoil lined gimme cap when I fire one of these puppies up the first time.

It smacks of scamming for government grants to 'develop' the process to me. The 'developer' will skim a very healthy salary, buy lots of hardware, beg more money, sell the hardware, ask for more money, sell more hardware, finally declare bankruptcy with a very nice personal stash of cash.
Note that the patent app says "in this reaction is possibly"..."It is believed" and "the inventive apparatus is coated by boron layers and lead plates both for restraining noxious radiations and transforming them into energy"
Betcha there is something about crystals and pyramids in there too. I call bullshit.
