The ADL has been so busy attacking defamation of Moslems, I'm surprised they found time to attack the defamation of Jews. On the other hand, this is so inoffensive, and funny, it's exactly the meaningless gesture we have come to expect from ADL.
Well, offensiveness is in the eye of the beholder, it seems.
While this is minimally offensive, it is inappropriate since it plays into a stereotype.
If one were to use the stereotype of the cheap Scot, would that be offensive to Scots? It might be. Can it still be used? Yes, possibly. But, it might carry the stigma of being insensitive.
Thus, I would argue that using negative stereotypes in public advertising is generally a bad thing.
I'll bring the issue up at the next meeting of the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame.
Wholesale whining.
(What? Yeah? You saw what I did there?)
I'm Jewish myself, and find it funny!
ADL: you do not in any way represent me and never have. Sha!!!
As a NY Jew I'm just flattered they mentioned Hannukah.
