Beer was roughly translated as "strong drink" from the Hebrew, and it was consumed. Wine was more of a drink of the North side of the Med while beer was the drink South of the Med and into the parts middle east that wasn't suited for large scale grape growing. In ancient Egypt beer was used as wages for working men. Wine was popular when it could be afforded. You didn't find boiling of the wort but some of the recopies for beer were fairly sophisticated, especially the Egyptian. The low alcohol content beers were as much food as anything else and added a lot of nutrients to the diet and was a lot safer to drink than the water. Barley soup, it is what's for breakfast.

here is evidence that beer was accidentally discovered in the search for a way to preserve bread.

Possible theological points:
• Believe in Jesus, just in case.
• A cross to beer.
• In the original Aramaic, it was gold, frankincense, and beer.
• The King of King of beers.
• A Lite unto my feet.
• After giving birth, Mary was heard to say, "And now, it's Miller time!"

well, in the spirit of silver and gold gifts for the infant, one would think that would be a box of Coors or Coors Light.

A while back, a physcian bud of mine showed up at a manly gathering with a six of Schlitz. I hadn't had a Schlitz since, roughly, back in elementary school, and it was greatly appreciated. I think he got to drink, maybe one or two of them.
