Montana Launches Baucus, Tester Recall

Montanans Launch Recall of Senators Baucus and Tester

Montana would be the first recall drive to be launched as a result of the vote for the NDAA military detentions provisions.

(HELENA) - Moving quickly on Christmas Day after the US Senate voted 86 - 14 to pass the National Defense Authorization Act of 2011 (NDAA) which allows for the indefinite military detention of American citizens without charge or trial, Montanans have announced the launch of recall campaigns against Senators Max Baucus and Jonathan Tester, who voted for the bill.

WYSIWYG
Democrats and National Defense
This is the way it ought be done. But, evidently Montana is one of (only?) nine states that allow the recall of members of its federal congressional delegation.  And this:

"New Jersey's federal recall law was struck down when a NJ state judge ruled that "the federal Constitution does not allow states the power to recall U.S. senators," despite the fact the Constitution explicitly allows, by not disallowing ("prohibited" in the Tenth Amendment,) the states the power to recall US senators and congressmen."

The good old Jersey court system.

I was raised in Montana and am wholly in favor of the recall of Baucus and Tester. To me, Baucus is nothing more than a Washington DC elitist who keeps a house in Missoula for his infrequent trips there. When our youngest son graduated from high school in Billings in 1982, Baucus gave the "commencement" speech that was nothing more than a political "vote-for-me-because -I'm-the-best" 30 minute bullshit speech that said absolutely nothing about or to the kids that were graduating.

I know little about Tester other than he unseated the last Republican Senator Montana had that was any good, Conrad Burns. I've known Conrad for some 35 or more years. That goes back to the days when he was a cattle buyer and auctioneer at one of the Billings stockyards. There were two then, but one has been closed along with the beef packing plant it was associated with. Conrad was always there every year with my wife when she and her Campfire Girls group were selling their candy at the cattle sales. Max Baucus would never do such a thing to help a bunch of 12 and 13 year-old girls. Why Montanans keep on electing him is beyond my comprehension.

Yup Judge Jersey is an idiot. He must be from the Obama School of Constitutional Study, which holds that the document is fundamentally flawed because it only says what the feds can't do; the school believes in negative liberties.

The rest of us understand what the 10th Amendment means ... all powers not specifically given to the feds are reserved for the states or the people. Limited government, hello? So by not explicitly saying 'states can recall senators at will' they implicitly say it by explicitly saying in the 10th about the remaining powers thing.

Hey, maybe I should be a judge. Can't do worse than some out there already!

I read the New Jersey Supreme Court Opinion that permitted Lautenberg to parachute into the election, even though the state election law, on its face, prohibited the substitution. The caption in the opinion (a detailed listing of all the parties, etc.) ran several pages. The opinion itself ran only a page or two, and the relevant portion (a few sentences) completely ignored the plain language in the election law.

It was pathetic.

Scottiebill,

Voter fraud is only now starting to get some attention from its victims, but even now, not enough, not nearly enough. Most people are just too naive to believe it.

Wait till you see the usurper and his minions in action if there even is an election in November.

I went to MT Boy's State right after Baucus was first elected. Baucus spoke to us and had a question and answer session. I was struck, as a junior in high school, how someone could speak so many words, with no semantic content.

Interestingly enough, I went to high school with Jon... He was a really good trumpet player.

BTW, Jon was largely elected by the Indian tribes. Amazingly enough, the tribes had something like 90% turnout. He lost the vote in both his hometown and his home county. But, unfortunately it is still a strong union state. Between the tribes and the unions, I'm sure there was no voting fraud either...

That Indian vote kept Tom Daschle in office for years ....

Seems to me there was a clip of Tester chortling with friends about how he had 'stolen' the election. Literally, not figuratively, stating he had stolen the election. It got little traction, of course, with the MSM.

But, I think it is still 'out there'...

If the court doesn't like a "recall,"
then call it "extradition."
