Ive grown to where I just smile and nod to my liberal associates. You know, as you would a child or a 'diferently abled' person. "Show me where he lied!" It's like trying to explain nuclear physics to a dog.
Tim
Me too, because so many are people I love. Don't even mention politics around them anymore. It does no good, and I'm confident they will all, after I'm gone, say - "Holy Sh*t- Dad was right!Hide the kids and don't answer the door!"
I have likened talking to liberals as trying to have a discussion about golf but he doesnt believe in gravity. before you can even get to talking about the issue you must first explain basic principles of your worldview. principles that are not colored by your political stance, basic tenants of reality you took for granted. i am convinced that our perceptions are completely unrelated and upon seeing a dog he sees a dolphin

I would have had someone around me at all times if I were he.
For all of you searching for the perfect metaphor, it is the classic, "Trying to teach a pig to sing".
A. You can't.
B. It annoys the pig.

P.S. It's OK, we're going to be hanging these motherfuckers by the bushel before it's over... or vice versa.
Stop selling them things.
They can go live in a cave and eat rabbits, as far as I am concerned.
That's right, Kristopher, it would be better for the planet that way.

Casca's correct.
It's a reality issue. Lib/Progs/Socialists truly believe things because they ought to be true or because they need to be true for their little fantasy world to make sense.
You cannot disabuse them of these notions with reasoned argument or fact.
That is why there's such a disconnect and why there's such hostility to conservative realism — it is a threat to their fundamentalist "religion," their whole self.
I always say Obama lost me when he threw Jeremiah Wright under the bus.
Not that I ever supported him at all, but it makes libs shut up and think about his substance - sometimes, for the few that actually think.
