No longer supported ...

TECHNO CHILLS

Res Ipsa Loquitur

Blogger (Google) appears to be taking a page from Microsoft.  That is, taking advantage of their dominance to force us peoples to use their stuff, in this case Google Chrome.  I only get this message when I try to edit form an IE tab in Firefox, so it's hard to tell which is their target (I suspect it's Firefox).  In any event Bloggers new "edit existing post page" is a barrel of crap, so I suspect my days are numbered.  I'm not up to going to  new format, so when this no longer works for me, I'll take it as a sign from God that I need to get a life.

One more thing - Firefox is now atrociously bad, so they are asking for it.

Not so here, Jefe. I use FF 100%. Every time I have an apparent problem with FF, it turns out to be caused by a plugin. As a result, I have minimized the number of plugins and every time I install a new one, it's the first thing I disable when there are off nominal behaviors. Should I mention that I use Linux and WinXP SP3 for Operating Systems?

Interesting related event: I de-installed IE a while back. Then I noticed that clicking on a link in an email (Thunderbird) didn't do anything in the browser. Installed IE8 and suddenly that feature worked again. That's the only need I have for IE. --Skyhawker, Doug

Oh no! Not you too, Rodger! What is this life thing that everyone keeps going on about? Whatever it is, it seems to drive people away from their computers.

I'm running Win7 (it's not bad once you get used to it) and also run Firefox 100% trouble free. I only run two add-ons: Adblock Plus and Answers. I can't remember the last time I encountered a website that didn't work with Firefox.

Why else use Firefox than the add-ons? Srsly? IE is faster and smoother.

I switched all my comps to chrome and now its sexytime all the time. I havent had any problems with it and its way skinnier than IE. Daddy likes, you may as well.

Roger, you do not understand the power of the Chrome side of the compuforce. Come to the Chrome side and realize power you have never seen before!

lol. Like bfhogues, I put Chrome up because everything else (ie, ff, opera) choked on farmville and I have to plant my crops... Chrome has been issue free and is excellent.

I put Firefox to sleep on my new W7 laptop with a Core i7 chip. Resizing every screen display was just too much. IE9 is really quite nice with this setup, except it refuses to display some of my blog widgets after I turned on their strange system of ad blocking. So now I run Chrome, which is fine after you get used to the interface.

Rodger - you need to pull an Althouse by simply threatening to take your blog elsewhere. Those little gremlins jumped through all kinds of hoops to restore her data and make Blogger be nice to that big volume blog.

"Why else use Firefox than the add-ons? Srsly?" Srsly. Aren't you the one who once said that you were resigned to re-installing Windows ever six months or so? The last time I had to re-install Windows I was running Win98. You sound almost like my brother who loves to download all sorts of add-ons, utilities, organizers, games and whatever freebie he runs across. His computer is slow and glitchy as hell. At least it has made him adept at tracking down and fixing viruses.

"IE is faster and smoother." You could be right. Maybe I should give IE another shot. I haven't used it since I switched to FF over a decade ago. IE was the atrociously bad one back then. OTOH, I don't have any problems with FF.
