An empty gesture to gain votes in November? Not to mention, where were they when this atrocity was crammed down our collective throat?

Where they Jon?
They hadn't been elected yet. it was all the wonderful local "conservative" Dems elected when you jerks "taught Bush a lesson" in 2006 & 2008.

It also pins this vote on potentially vulnerable donks who will have their opponent cram it down their throats.

And, Uhbamacare now being a tax bill, IOW, a revenue bill, cannot be filibustered in the Senate, can be forced to the Senate floor by reconciliation, and needs only 51 nay votes to go down in flames. The Repubs want to force a roll call vote on the issue and see if any Senate Dems will blink in the face of a blast of negative publicity over forcing a huge TAX bill on the middle class while facing reelection in the midst of a depression in which millions are losing their jobs, pensions, savings and homes. And if they get 51 votes, then Uhbama has to put his nuts on the block.

To answer your question, not one Republican in the House voted for Obamacare. Not even one. - 7/12/12, 12:32 AM

OTOH, if it were to pass the Senate, each D that voted 'Aye' would have cover for November. One could assume that Teh Won would be unlikely to sign the bill repealing the signature legislation cementing his place in history.
This might not be a good idea. But, I still think, looking at the House vote, the D's in the Senate would have a hard time from Harry and his 'enforcers', so it would fail. Just thinkin' of alternatives.
