Arming the Meter Maids

Police State Culture

today’s deep question

Why would the National Weather Service need to purchase large quantities of powerful ammo? That’s the question many are asking after the federal agency followed in the footsteps of the Department of Homeland Security in putting out a solicitation for 46,000 rounds of hollow point bullets. (cont)

Okay, I *know* it’s absurd, but doesn’t it raise the hair on the back of your head a little to see every federal agency arming itself to put down domestic insurrection 90 days ahead of an election that the incumbent big gov guys are likely to lose?

Don’t forget those new riot style pump shotguns ordered for the Dept. of Edjicashun. Gotta protect up those hall monitors and substitute teachers..

bullet-proof checkpoint booths that include ‘stop and go’ lights…
THAT falls along the line of our conversation today, Sondra!
That being said, THIS sent a chill down my spine:

This makes about as much sense as our local public school police force wanting their own SWAT team.

Why does every federal agency need its own police force?
Was there an associated order for earth tone garments?

The ammo is for their fisheries cops. It works out to about five boxes per cop per year.

And yes, fishermen tend to shoot people who interfere with their livelyhood.

NOAA weather folks tend to avoid driving NOAA marked vehicles in towns that rely on ocean fishing income.

Many local school boards should have their own swat teams.

NOAA Need Hollow Points Kristopher?

It makes total sense to me. If you carry a weapon, you get a twenty-year retirement, and all the other cop perks.

Roger, most all "police" type forces use hollow points. FMJ only is pretty much a military deal.

circa 1988 Hydaburg Ak Tribe was spoted operating a USF&W boat as a trawler... USF&W crew were never seen again. ..

Now the word on Drudge is that Social Security is buying 174,000 rounds of .357 Sig JHPs.

The Social Security Administration has put out a bid for 175,000 rounds of .357 hollow point. I'm not sure why. Their security is farmed out to private contractors and they use .40 cal.

Maybe they're preparing for a mass suicide if the conservatives win Congress and the Presidency?

The feds are buying up ammo to drive up the price and make it harder to get. It's back door gun control - "under the radar" like Obama told the shit birds at the Brady Center...

And I agree that too many federal agencies are cooking up police forces.

In the USDA Forest Service, the only guns used to be bear rifles carried in places where they were needed.

Now they try to force all the trail-crew/Wilderness Guard volunteers to get POST certified so they can carry a pistol and write parking tickets at trailheads.

When I left my volunteer position there in 1985, the ZigZag district had exactly one POST certified cop wearing FS greens.

Before that, they just called the Clackamas County Sheriff if they needed some asshole to be arrested.
