I feel pretty, oh so pretty ...

Culture War

News From the Front
Openly gay athletes still scarce at Olympic Games

Why Was This Story Written?
Why did AP writer Jill Lawless write this article?  Is it that she's a lazy slug, looking for an easy story? Is she herself gay,  and trying to curry favor with a lesbian  Bulgarian weightlifter?   Does AP have a cultural victim story quota ?

Res Ipsa LoquitorThere are more than 10,000 athletes competing at the London games, but when the gay website OutSports.com set out to count how many were openly gay, it came up with 23.

"It's an absurdly low number," said site co-founder Jim Buzinski. He said that compared to the arts, politics or business worlds, "sports is still the final closet in society."

Estimates of the percentage of gay people in any given population vary widely. In a 2010 survey by Britain's Office for National Statistics, 1.5 percent of respondents identified themselves as gay or bisexual, although many consider that an underestimate.

This is where the story of Conrad Mickelbauer, the gay sprinter who clocked a 9:57 in the 100m, but denied a spot on the U.S. Olympic team because he was gay will be told.

. *tap tap tap*

I'm  waiting. That's because there is no Conrad Mickelbauer excluded for gayness story.

"I am an archer, middle-aged and a lesbian," the 46-year-old South African archer Karen Hultzer told me— but said she looked forward to the day when her sexuality was not an issues.

HELL-OH?   Maybe it's an issue only because gay website OutSports.com set out to count how many were openly gay?

So STFU.

I remain fascinated by the crotch crowd. When you are defined by how you reach orgasm, your life must really bland.

Which is probably the same proportion of gays to the total population. Minimal and militant

Last night NBC had a long piece on a gay Australian male diver. All about his "gayness". What the fuck does being gay have to do with diving?

Maybe they could have a piece about Michael Phelps and how good he is at having sex with his girlfriend.

Sports is cool. Either you do, or you don't; can, or can't. Simple as that.

So soon they forget Greg "Loose Anus" Louganis.

Gayness and Diving - Blame it all on Greg Louganis.

As for the the Australian Diver that NBC did the *vomit* feature on, meet Matthew Mitcham. The network wasted their time because all you had to do was watch him walk and listen to him talk.

I can't help but think about the old joke:
"How tight is a ducks a$$?
Water tight or else it would sink."

Ya know, Ms. Hultzer, that works both ways.

If you want sexuality to not be an issue, then why keep bringing it up?
