Don't Go Akin My Heart

This video was made earlier in the month, but it's more intersting today. Particularly in light of recent developments, like her choice Sarah Steelman being edged by some guy named Akin in MO. Ahem. And, unless she's the "mystery speaker," the GOP will have come a crapper once again.

Aside: Akin is getting the full Dan Quayle treatemnt from the media, but is still 100% better than Claire McCaskell—who will vote for Harry Reid as Senate Majority Leader if she's reelected.

He allowed a newsie to pick an extremely un-popular position as his hill to die on, and then doubled down on it by spouting some medieval horseshit that was cooked up centuries ago to support this position.

And now, instead of bowing out and allowing Steelman to run and possibly salvage the seat, he insists on hanging on and pulling Defeat out of the the lower colon of Victory ... he's got his arm in there up to his shoulder.

He tried to claim he was some kind of martyr, and when that failed to garner sympathy, he abandoned his position completely and is now trying to re-market himself as a fiscal conservative.

I don't think Akin is even all that religious ... he was just too fucking stupid to realize that he had been tricked into jumping into a vat of radioactive ooze, and then insisted on splashing in it on camera. And now he is too fucking stupid to realize that Republicans ( except the dumbass Christian-Socialist Huckabee ) are never going to forgive him for this.; 8/28/12, 11:18 AM
