November 15 is our wedding anniversary. In 2009 we were in Port Aransas,TX on the beach until April 2010. Time flies. I thought you had posted this a couple of years earlier.
It's the bestest. Thanks again.

Libertarian Claire Wolfe has published this Book called Rats - Your guide to protecting yourself against snitches, informers, informants, agents provocateurs, narcs, finks, and similar vermin. It is free, for immediate download (Kindle, Nook, PDF, Read Online and HTML files for hosting), and she wants us to spread it wide and thin, as long as it is for non-commercial use. IMHO, it's never been more useful than now, as the campaign fog continues to dissipate and our new reality becomes obvious. Enjoy!

Oh, and it is related to your post, Rodge, as one section of the third chapter is called: "Do NOT talk to cops. Period."

I-RIGHT-I said...

Silly stuff. You're better off not talking to lawyers. Cops are people too, lawyers, not so much.

And all cops are good guys who only want what's best for you. Uh, huh.

Hate to burst anyone's bubble, but there is no such thing as a "good cop." They're all sociopathic megalomaniacs. Every. Single. One. If they weren't, they'd have had no desire to become a cop in the first place.

There are precisely two kinds of people who become cops:

1) High-school bullies whose only skill set is bullying, so they have to find some way to continue it after high-school.

2) Those who were the victims of said bullies, never got over it, and now want to take revenge on the whole community.

Period. End of discussion. All other opinions are invalid.

Aww, c'mon, Rodg! You know as well as I do that they're all jack-boot wannabes. Why the name calling?

All purpose survival code of conduct:

1. When the cops come don’t be there.
2. If you gotta be there don’t say nothing.
3. If you gotta say something don’t say nothing.

You're using the tar bush anaon. I know a lot of good, dedicated cops. The only two gropus in the world I can think of that can be paimted with one brush are Democrats and practicing Moslems.

That they haven't harassed or brutalized an innocent *yet* just means they either have better restraint than most, or they haven't been a cop for very long.

I stand by my statement that the only people who'd want to become cops in the first place are those who like the idea of exercising power and force over others, i.e. megalomaniacs. They're really no different than politicians in that regard. Even the best, most ethical politician has at least a little something wrong with him, otherwise he wouldn't want to be a politician. Same goes for cops.

I guess we can agree to disagree on this one.

Totally with you on the whole "Democrats and practicing Moslems" thing, btw! :)

My dad spent a lifetime as a blue-collar working man. Had always wanted to be a cop; finally, at the age of 60, he went to night academy and became a reserve sheriff's deputy. Once I move back to Texas, I intend to do same. I can assure you, anon2112, that you are a know nothing douchebag. My dad doesn't fall under either of your asinine categories, and neither do I, being that we are both pro-civilian gun ownership, little government types, so kindly go fuck yourself.

Okay, okay, geez. I'll confine my statement to my own little world and say that only every single policeman I've ever encountered, as well as every single policeman ever encountered by anyone I've ever met -- and I'm not exaggerating by the way -- has been a psychopathic asshole, but they're simply the exceptions to the rule that all cops are good people who only have your best interests in mind. Is that better?

Maybe there are some good ones out there, but I've never seen any evidence of it. To a man, they've all been horrible, *horrible* people. I'm not kidding, and I'm not trolling. Absolute human garbage, every one of them.

For example, one particular cop in my home town was drunk most of the time he was on duty. He constantly harassed good-but-unpopular kids, while turning a blind eye to the jocks and cheerleaders who drove around drinking and partying all night. He actually pulled over a friend of mine once -- reeking of gin and slurring his speech -- and gave him a ticket with "drove will ambulance summonsed" (sic) scrawled on it as the charge because he thought my buddy was following an ambulance. Anyhow, several years ago, this cop was approached in the parking lot of the local truck stop by three big corn-fed farm boys. Y'see, he'd pulled over their little sister (14 yrs old) for driving without a license and promised her he'd take her to jail if she didn't have sex with him right there in the car. She got pregnant. So they put him in the hospital for two weeks. Everyone in town knows this story and knows it to be true, but no investigation ever took place. The parents didn't press charges because they didn't want their boys to go to jail for assaulting an officer, and he didn't press charges so that the truth of his actions would remain off the record. He's now Chief of Police, and all his minions in the police department just love him. They all follow his lead, too. If your family is wealthy and/or your son plays football for the local high school, your kids are literally immune and can do whatever they want. If your kid is in the band or pursuing any kind of purely academic track -- and especially if you're not one of about 5 specific surnames in town -- he's fair game and will be pulled over every time he gets behind the wheel.

Another example: about 20 years ago, the entire sheriff's department of my home county was investigated by the FBI. Every single officer was tried and convicted. Y'see, all the drugs in the evidence locker were found to be fake. The cops were arresting people, confiscating their stash, putting fake drugs into evidence, and reselling the confiscated drugs. For years.

So again, maybe there are some good cops out there somewhere, but they don't live anywhere I've ever lived. I guess I'm just jaded. Sorry I didn't clarify sooner. JFC!
