Broadside Against Entire Republican Establishment

We Have Come to Bury Caesar
Brent Bozell Levels Broadside Against Entire Republican Establishment

Res Ipsa Loquitor

I postulate that with some quibble room a person's character is pretty much set by age 7.  So it is a certainty that when an adult tells a black lie, that person is a liar who cannot ever be trusted with telling the truth ever again, except maybe on the death bed.  L Brent Bozell understands that.

"John Boehner, Eric Cantor, and Kevin McCarthy, you said all the right things to conservatives to propel the GOP back to the majority and you to the top three leadership positions in the House. You, like virtually every single other Republican elected to Congress solemnly vowed to rid us of Obamacare, which you can do simply by refusing to fund it. Why haven't you done so?" Bozell asked, charging that the House GOP leadership has "done nothing for over two years but give us excuses and more commitments that tomorrow, yes tomorrow, you'll honor your promises." [full]

  • Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears; I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him. The evil that men do lives after them; The good is oft interred with their bones; So let it be with Caesar. The noble Brutus Hath told you Caesar was ambitious: If it were so, it was a grievous fault; And grievously hath Caesar answer'd it. - Marc Antony's Funeral Oration
On Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, Bozell said, "You ran, and won as a fiscal conservative. You leave punishing Virginia with the largest tax increase in history. I wish we'd never elected you. Do you have national aspirations? Sorry my friend, forget them."

  • On Karl Rove's efforts to begin working to recruit primary candidates, Bozell warned "the last thing the GOP needs is for the anti-conservative professional political consultant class infecting its ranks. And the last thing we conservatives want is them infiltrating ours.

A weak character will crumble when forced to choose it over ambition.  10,000 words about what is it then that causes us to continue electing liars and weak character canker blossoms?  Answer: Two possibilities
  1. We are a nation too lazy to pay attention
  2. We are of poor character ourselves

Aside:
Res Ipsa LoquitorThis thought kind of startles me too. If all elected Democrats are liars, and they manifestly are, the lone person with any honesty is Obama.  Think about it.  He is an unwavering socialist doctrinaire whose speeches—available for all to view on YouTube— have seen him unwaveringly promise to destroy the coal industry, impose a socialist state,  pay reparations for slavery, including appointing a court with like minded people, etc.  Having thus staked out his vision, he has no problem with telling the lies and falsehoods necessary to achieve his goals.  No different than Lenin and Stalin; or Hitler and Satan.

Aside: Is that also called the devil in the details?

But...but...but you guys all told me I had to vote for all the GOP candidates because otherwise, well, otherwise we'd get gay marriage, and amnesty, and Obummercare, a weak supreme court and lying sacks'o'crap in high places in our government!

… a person's character is pretty much set by age 7.

Nonsense. My aim is steadier, my pastries are flakier, and I can swim at least twice as far underwater. It's like I'm a completely different person.

And at age 7, I had never met a Democrat, so I didn't hate them.

Helly,

Those aren't about character - just acquired and perfected skills.

Except the last. That one does speak to character. And I infer there was an unspoken "yet" at the end of the sentence??
