An old new story. Or, new old ...?"

Knock-Knock

CNN's Carol Costello admitted on Wednesday that President Obama's staff "can be quite nasty" to deal with. Given Costello's propensity to be a bleeding-heart liberal, her admission is all the more striking.

"I felt it first hand when I was, you know, reporting on the presidential race," Costello noted. "I mean President Obama's people can be quite nasty. They don't like you to say anything bad about their boss, and they're not afraid to use whatever means they have at hand to stop you from doing that, including threatening your job." [Full]

Do we have a Pastor Niemoller moment breaking out here?  "I watched administration thugs persecute conservatives, but I am not a teapartier, so I remained silent. ..."   No.  She sounds matter of fact; accepting of harsh behavior from this president.  She violated the code. Pleae sir, may I have another?"

Carol Costello,
new age reporter. News reporter.  Didn't know, or give credence to, if she did, of myriad reports about Obama's propensity to dispatch street thugs to silence critics during his 2008 presidential campaign.  Like these examples.

  •  The Obama campaign's October 2008 order to blacklist the Orlando television station whose reporter, Barbara West, dared ask Sen. Biden a hard question about Barack Obama's tax policies
  • August 27, 2008 .  Sent out an Obama Action Wire email to "supporters" encouraging them to inundate a Chicago radio station  with complaints and demands that a Stanley Kurtz interview about his ties to Bill Ayers be axed.
  • A few weeks later,he again summoned his street army through another Obama Action Wire, inciting them to once again inundate the same Chicago radio show with calls to deny airtime for an interview with author David Freddoso, author of the book The Case Against Barack Obama.
  • A nonprofit called "Accountable America" that is headed by a former operative of MoveOn.com (which endorsed Obama, and later provided his "birth certificate")  has been going through campaign-finance databases and targeting conservative donors with "warning" letters intended to depress Republican fundraising.
  • The Obama campaign demanded that the U.S. Justice Department stop TV stations from airing an independent ad focusing on Obama's relationship with Bill Ayers. Again, Obama's followers were summoned to inundate stations with tens of thousands of emails to kill the commercial.
  •  Obama demanded that the Justice Department investigate and prosecute the group that produced the Bill Ayers ad (the American Issues Project) and the man who funded the group (Harold Simmons from Dallas, Texas).
  • Through the attorney for Obama for America, he asked the U.S. Attorney General to investigate John McCain, Sarah Palin, and Republican Senators Voinovich and Cornyn and Representatives Bachmann, Blunt and Ryan because of the Republicans' attempts to draw attention to ACORN's fraudulent voter registration activities.
  • The persecution of Joe the Plumber for having the gall to answer a televised Obama query negatively.

"I mean President Obama's people can be quite nasty. They don't like you to say anything bad about their boss,"

Look at Drudge's page right now.  Were these clarion calls, or what?  And nobody heard much about them..

"And nobody heard much about them.."

As if anybody that mattered needed to be told.

I think Clinton set the standard when he brought you to the park and had you shot.

You are right Rodger, the legacy media is an embarassment, servile, cringing toadies to the Total State. But, paraphrasing the immortal Senator Jesse Helms, "I don’t care what the New York Times says, and no one I care about cares what the New York Times says.”

Lincoln is the gold standard here. Elected by a slim minority, mostly hated in the US he comes to office prepared to deal with the pushback against his agenda he knows is coming. He suspends Habeas Corpus before any hostilities. He arrests people that speak out against him and never file charges so they can defend themselves. He has an Immigrant army of Irish thugs that smash the printing operations of many newspapers who dare criticize his agenda. He even arrested the Chief Supreme Court justice Roger Tanney for saying his actions are wildly unconstitutional.

Oh my brother, WE HAVE BEEN HERE BEFORE. Everything I mentioned happened to Northeners. HIS people.

Hey, remember when Barry took the oath at the Lincoln Memorial. Nothing to see here folks.

Yes, Southrons wanted the same economic system "enjoyed" by the Romans and the Muslims,
where a tiny minority lived off the toils of the enslaved population...Systematic rapes
of the female slaves obtained white slave children, 30% of all slaves, the rest of the blacks was to
be deported to Liberia, Africa, which had been established by Southron slave holders.

Wy, it’s jest ez clear ez figgers,
Clear ez one an’ one make two,
Chaps thet make black slaves o’ niggers
Want to make wite slaves o’ you.

Beating Lincoln was supposed to permit the enslavement of all the Irish,
Jews, Germans and other assorted Catholics...

"George Fitzhugh, the South main ideologue, talked about free society in the North being a failure and universal slavery, not based on color, being the only successful alternative. He declared, “Ten years ago we became satisfied that slavery, black or white, was right and necessary. We advocated this doctrine in very many essays.” Fitzhugh explained, “More than half of the white citizens of the North are common laborers, either in the field, or as body or house servants. They perform the same services that our slaves do.” White laborers received no money when they were ill or when no work was available. They worked long hours for very low wages and were living in poverty, which in turn led to crime and an undermining of free society. Slaves, on the other hand, did not have to fend for themselves, and they were taken care of with food, clothing, and shelter. Free society was a failure. Slave society was a success. Fitzhugh later wrote, “White slavery, not black, has been the normal element of civilized society.... He who justifies mere negro slavery, and condemns other forms of slavery, does not think at all…. Domestic slavery must be vindicated in the abstract... without regard to race or color.” Fitzhugh’s thinking evolved, and as shown in observations he made in 1858, he came to believe that white slaves were better than black slaves. “European slaves have ever been almost all of the white race. Negro slavery is of very recent origin.... To say the white race is not the true and best slave race is to contradict all history.” If the Union could not exist half slave and half free, the nationalization of slavery, with white laborers in the North being enslaved as well, was the better alternative. This was a major theme in Southern politics from the mid-1850s to 1860.9

In 1855 Fitzhugh wrote a very famous and often quoted, albeit anonymous, editorial for the Richmond Enquirer. Fitzhugh said, “The Bible...ordained, authorized and enforced white slavery,” and that “slavery in the abstract” was right. “The laws of all the Southern States justified the holding [of] white men in slavery, provided, through the mother, they were descended, however remotely, from a negro slave. The bright [white] mulattoes,” said Fitzhugh, were not “wrongfully held in slavery.” The universality of the right to enslave was affirmed with, “The South now maintains that slavery is right, natural, and necessary,” and “the principle of slavery is itself right, and does not depend on difference of complexion.”10

And of course, any discussion of Lincoln's abuses immediately gets turned into a referendum on slavery.

Yes, Slavery was evil. Can we move on to the point that Lincoln did tyrannical things?
