The old Bugs Bunny 'toons were never meant for kids. Lots of violence and sexual innuendo were main themes along with some scattered racism (see the BB war years 'toons). The later ones were cleaned up considerably. The outstanding animation was due to 24 frame per second, hand-drawn artwork along with terrific sound effects. BB even won an Oscar. The modern cgi-cranked out crap nowadays doesn't even come close. Jack Warner didn't even realize what these guys were up to at "Termite Terrace" on the back lot. Chuck Jones was way ahead of his time. I miss him and his gang of looney tuners....
