Go out and play dammit!

                    Boys Will Be Boys

I imagine my thoughts here are identical to my grandparent's worries about television  And they were right.

No, it is actually much worse than that! Recent
research is suggesting that these tablets are
actually retarding the intellectual development of
very young children. In most cases, their Yuppie
parents are gushing about the toddler "Genius," who
can swipe and pinch like a pro, yet cannot add 2+2.

These things are producing a generation of mind
numbed robots with no reasoning or logic skills. Those
Lincoln Logs and Gilbert Erector sets actually taught
some very vital skills.

These tools, starting with alphabet blocks not only taught
us things, they helped make us creative and drilled
the concept of problem solving into our heads.

Amen, Leonard!!
Some millenials I've dealt with recently come to a dead stop when confronted with a problem they cannot cut and paste from their smart phones or laptops. They have no deductive or inductive reasoning skills, no internal firmware to solve anything they can't pull off a virtual shelf somewhere on the web. I used to think it was sad, but now I'm becoming frightened for what the future holds for them after we're gone. They'll be drones in a lousy anthill.

There have always been those who, if not smart, were at least clever. And the drones. I fear the ratio may be shifting.
