Here's the opener we were prepared to publish at 9:38 p.m. Sunday night:
Northwestern shocked the No. 13 Maryland men's basketball team on Sunday night, taking a lead on the game's first possession and holding it from wire to wire before a crowd of 14,113 at XFINITY Center.
Not quite. Trailing by 11 points in the final minutes, Maryland mounted a stunning comeback to take a one-point lead against visiting Northwestern with seconds to play, lose it, then gain it back for good with 1.6 seconds on the clock on a Dez Wells put-back. What had looked like a devastating loss turned into one of Maryland's most thrilling wins in years, 68-67.

So lucky #13 squeaks by unranked Northwestern by ONE, and it's one of their greatest games evah?
If you say so! Any where else, we call it lucky. - 1/25/15, 10:32 PM

The real question of course is" "How far did the Turtles fall from their #13 ranking after being hammered by the #22 ranked Hoosiers on Saturday - 89 to 70??
Lets hear it for the Cream & Crimson! - 1/26/15, 4:18 AM

The real question is: Will #22 ranked Hoosiers even be ranked after getting clocked by OSU? BTW, I cannot for the life of me figure out how Northwestern is at leat 50-50 in the B1G?

OSU beating the Hoosiers in basketball is somewhat akin to them beating Michigan (hwaak, ptooey!) in football. Not nearly as important, of course, but in that same vein.
I'm sure Casca would agree. - 1/26/15, 8:07 PM
