Brilliant! I've always liked Jack Webb (although "inflexible" describes not only his values but even the way he walked) and I wouldn't be surprised if he wrote a lot of that stuff himself!

Johnny Carson and Jack Webb, the copper clapper caper.
Jack Webb also did a sketch with Steve Allen. Which I think was a near duplicate of a Stan Freiberg sketch. St. George and the Dragon. Punch line so you used...That's right a dragon net.
