Sheen was a terrific person, and my parents watched his show every week. I think my mother also liked him because he dressed like Liberace. He really presented a great show, with great ideas.

His name has been familiar to me but I've never seen him before. It is amazing how timeless this lecture was. It seems to me that liberals are far more knowledgeable of evil than they are of good; must have taken a bigger bite of the apple, so that hasn't changed much. It is no wonder today's college campuses are full of whiny hateful students who were schooled on the teetering educational shelf.

Sheen went up against Sid Caesar's television show and held his own because he did not proselytize. Okay, we had to watch it in our house because it was homework (RC school) .. but in retrospect, I learned a great deal more from him and his values stuck. They were also those of the nation. Then.

Before the name ‘Sheen’ was dragged through the mud…
Since the name "Sheen" has become so notorious of late, perhaps we can restore some of its respect by quoting the late Archbishop (1895-1979) on a matter of far more importance today than the scandalous exhibitionist escapades of a rampant (and now HIV-positive) narcissist who goes by the same last name.
After all, it was the charismatic and prolific then-Bishop (he was known as “America’s Bishop”, and wrote over 60 books and was a fixture on TV in the ‘50s, even winning an Emmy!) whom Charlie Sheen’s father, born Ramon Estevez, sought to honor when he took the stage name “Martin Sheen”.
Here's some of the wisdom that the esteemed (and prescient!) Catholic theologian shared in 1950:
“Today, the hatred of the Moslem countries against the West is becoming hatred against Christianity itself. Although the statesmen have not yet taken it into account, there is still grave danger that the temporal power of Islam may return and, with it, the menace that it may shake off a West which has ceased to be Christian, and affirm itself as a great anti-Christian world power.”

…Or even, as we say (and spell) it here in the States, "humor".
