We early Boomers laugh.
We didn't even have seatbelts!
Of course, there'd be more of us around if there had. - 4/23/16, 12:03 PM

So, does that make us the greatest generation in comparison to the coddled? Nope, but it does make us smarter! We problem solved through trial and error. I've got the scars to prove it.

Farm kids wore lockblade knives to school. Saw many a fight where a kid was wearing one. Pulling it out would have been unthinkable. Used to proudly display our shotguns in the window racks in the high school parking lot if it was a quail day. As soon as the last bell rang, we were across the field hunting. Often the principal would bring his pointers and join us. -Anymouse

We're talking about a time when, In almost any given city or town in America, there was nothing more normal than a couple of 12 yr. boys walking along the railroad tracks or even riding the bus, toting their .22 rifles, on their way to the dump to shoot rats.

Cheyenne WY in the early 70s. A friend walked into the high school carrying a 30-06. Walked down the main hallway and straight into the principal's office. Where he asked "Can I leave this here? I'm going antelope hunting after class and the window is broken out on my truck so I don't want to leave it in the parking lot."
The principal, barely glanced at him when he said "Sure, lean it in the corner there." - 4/24/16, 1:06 PM

"Survivor's bias"
Amazingly, the people who most believe in evolution are the ones most dead set against any sort of risk. Some of us survivors are just lucky, the others smart, or maybe just quicker or stronger than those who died. You remove all risk, and then everyone survives and where's the evolutionary theory now?
