More Geezer

You Look Mahvelous

  • When I was a child I thought "Nap Time" was a punishment.  Now, as a grownup, it feels like a small vacation.
  • The biggest lie I tell myself is, "I don't need to write that down,  I'll remember it."
  • I don't have gray hair; I have "wisdom highlights." I'm just very wise.
  •   Teach your daughter how to shoot, because a restraining order is just a piece of paper.
  •  If God wanted me to touch my toes, he would've put them on my knees.
  • Why do I have to press one for English when you're just gonna transfer me to someone I can't understand anyway?
  • Of course I talk to myself; Sometimes I need expert advice.
  •  At my age "Getting lucky" means walking into a room and remembering what I came in there for.

About 10+ years ago you posted about something called a roku. Didn't have the slightest idea, but in 2014 I looked into one and did my best internet study of all brands for this type of device. I chose Roku 3 for my husband's birthday in 2014. So glad I learned it here first! Today I add HBO Now to our roku channels. Don't know if we're ready to completely cut the cord on satellite, but the roku sure is a good little start, and the ever increasing fees at Direct (left Dish for them) are kill'n us - the bloody nickle and dime'n.

I've been looking at a Roku recently -- Comcast is insane now. Their internet is good but the cable bill -- wow. Definitely looking at options like Roku, glad to hear you like it!

Yes, Josh, we do like it. HBO Now is $14.99 mo and also Showtime has a stand alone subscribe for $10.99. We are hooked on Game of Thrones but not Showtime stuff. Besides, give showtime a season or two and we can watch series on Netflix or Amazon Prime, imo.

RE: Roku - FYI, if you have Amazon Prime, Showtime is $8.99/mo through Amazon with their "add-ons" feature in Prime, works with whatever device you're getting Prime videos through, bills against however you're paying for Amazon stuff, easy to turn on or off a month at a time. HBO Now is still a standalone, maybe Bezos will work a deal with them, too. Jeff, you listening?

Nosmo King - thanks for the Prime tip, I didn't realize that stuff was there. Good to know.

Juice - you might want to check out "KODI TV". Search for it - runs in Win, Linux, Android (which includes Amazon's Fire TV and Google's Chrome box). Free first run movies. FYI, there are complaints about ver 16 being buggy (16 is current, and every version is officially beta, don't know when they'll release a true "production" version), so see if you can find an earlier version to download.
