Bill Murray, an extraordinary man

So what's the point? That Bill Murray is so full of himself that his favorite thing to do is crash parties, weddings and other events so he can bask in celebrity adulation and get away with shit that mere mortals never could?
We actually had a lot more respect for Murray before we learned this about him. He's apparently, despite his talent and success, an emotionally needy, arrogant individual.

Bill owns the Minor League Baseball team in town and appears several times a year at the park and when in town can be seen at nearly any given spot. He is always in character and spends time with his fans whenever they meet. He really is a down to earth regular guy.

I love Bill Murray. I have no doubt that like a lot of comedians he can be grouchy more often than not. It can't be easy having your greatest hits of quotes thrown at you every time you go outside. But who wouldn't love to have something crashed by Bill Murray. I think he's great -- I do wish he'd come back a little closer to the comedy side of things, but everything he does is fantastic.

First, I actually laughed at the removed comment. Second, from mispronouncing Mateus to Pvt Winger and on to the slimy bowler McCracken, (etc) Ive always enjoyed him!

Look, we don't dislike Bill Murray. In fact, we love his dry, droll, sometimes absurdist humor. His "lounge lizard" character never fails to crack us up, and, since we are fans of Hunter S. Thompson, we loved Bill as Dr. Gonzo in "Where the Buffalo Roam" (and thought his characterization far better than that of that little feygeleh Johnny Depp, who played Thompson in "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas", even though Depp was a close friend of Thompson and the psychedelic hallucinatory drive from L.A. to Vegas in a a convertible was pure Thompson and the best scene in that movie).
We're just surprised to learn of the compulsive party crashing and diva-like behavior that seems to be so much a part of Murray's off-screen life. It seems like a neurosis.

Party crasher? Attention whore? Have you looked at the photos? Real, genuine smiles in each and every one. I've known a couple of people in my life that are like Murray. Their greatest joy is to put a smile on someone's face. And they were a bit goofy too. It works.

I do the same thing in hopes that I will be famous one day and they can look back and smile. Often not too keen on it at the moment but just you wait.

Correction: We meant Murray's "lounge singer" character; a lounge lizard is something else entirely.
