I MAD AS HELL!
  .                       ..

Vas ist los?

After posting "What is meant by the modern term referred to as ‘POLITICAL CORRECTNESSS’..", I sent an e-mail to she who sent it to me. MoSup.  To tell her it was bogus. This is what I got (using G-Mail)

And, for those offering advice on "I'm  MAD AS HELL!," re: Windows 10 refusing to recognize Irfan View's search program (Did I mention that?  Whoops.  No, I did not). But ...

  • "Sideload Apps" and "Developer" had nothing!
  • And,  Win MS have stripped away the "Open with..." option;
  • And will not let me select a Irfan Vu option.
And, I had previously reloaded the latest Irfan Vu package, and it worked ... for a short while.  And then it didn't.  Another reinstall wouldn't let me "search" at all.  And...I'm way past caring enought to grapple with using UNIX, or any other alternative.  MFCS!

I have the developer option set. I installed the program and it works fine. I will monitor to see if it fails after a while. You might consider posting your problem to https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/?auth=1 to see if there is some help there.

Why not just turn off UAC? Go to the Control Panel and search for UAC and set its value to 'Never Notify'

Sounds like you need to set default apps so the OS know when to offer the program. Go to Settings, System, Default apps. Then set your Photo Viewer and Video player there. Also a little further down you can set "Choose Default Apps by file type". Now I have to comment that when I installed IrFan there is an initial dialog asking you to select the file types tp be assigned to Irfan. By default nothing is selected. If you selected some file types it should work for those but if you left default selections (nothing) Then it won't know what files are associated with it.

Also I cannot find anywhere where Open With is not available. It is down father in the list than earlier versions of windows but I cannot make Open With go away.

We are clearly using different decks ... I am very close to going back to Win8, which is the only option MS gives me.
