Court is in Sessions

IMPEACH YAY TRUMP!!

My hope and expectation was that Trump would make Rudy Giuliani Attorney General.  Because I want someone who will go balls-out to, as he promised during the debates, send the Clinton crime family to prison.  And, although he really couldn't include Obama as a target, there is no way, objectively, to not include him as well.

Then I heard Trey Gowdy rumors. I'm okay with that. But, yikes!  When I saw, first thing this morning, that he asked "best friend" Jeff Sessions to take the job, I was way pissed!     But wait ....

  • Sessions was ranked by National Journal as the fifth-most conservative U.S. Senator
  • Sessions has taken a strong stand against any form of citizenship for illegal immigrants.
  •  Advocated for expanded construction of a Southern border fence
  • One of 25 senators to vote against the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 (the bank bailout),
  • Sessions has been an opponent of same-sex marriage and has earned a zero rating from the Human Rights Campaign, the United States' largest LGBT advocacy group.
  • Sessions was "heartbroken" and found "it beyond comprehension" when President Obama claimed that cannabis is not as dangerous as alcohol
  • He voted against the Matthew Shepard Act, which added acts of bias-motivated violence based on sexual orientation and gender identity to federal hate-crimes law
  • Sessions joined five Republican colleagues in voting against Sotomayor's nomination in the Judiciary Committee.
  • Sessions pointed out that Kagan “has a very thin record legally, never tried a case, never argued before a jury, only had her first appearance in the appellate courts a year ago."

And, finally

In 1986, Reagan nominated Sessions to be a judge of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Alabama. Sessions's judicial nomination was recommended and actively backed by Republican Alabama Senator Jeremiah Denton. A substantial majority of the American Bar AssociationStanding Committee on the Federal Judiciary, which rates nominees to the federal bench, rated Sessions "qualified," with a minority voting that Sessions was "not qualified."

At Sessions' confirmation hearings before the Senate Judiciary Committee, four Department of Justice lawyers who had worked with Sessions testified that he had made several racist statements. One of those lawyers, J. Gerald Hebert, testified that Sessions had referred to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) as "un-American" and "Communist-inspired" because they "forced civil rights down the throats of people."

Whoops. I confused Sessions with political hack Sen. Thad (Mississippi).  Hey, I have a lot of stuff in my head.  But this is a brilliant choice.

But, now, If he doesn't appoint John Bolton as UN Ambassador, and Sarah Palin as Sec/Interior, there will be hell to pay!

Have a nice day.

NO! BOLTON AS SECSTATE. please, not UN Ambassador.

what has Palin done to be SecInt? half a term as gov of Alaska and she quit when the press went after her. since then she has been pundit and money raiser. she should be the new head of the RNC. that would use her talents and push the RNC rightward.

Living in Astoria--the most southerly part of Alaska--it's possible you don't know the story of Governor Palin and the challenges she faced in order to balance resource extraction to benefit the citizens of Alaska, rather than to the Good Old Boys.

And then, The Big Alinsky. Full-out, deep-throated ridicule. You may believe she said, "I can see Russia from here." You might be conditioned to your views of the Governor by what has been referred to as the Main Stream Media. Which, now that Trump has won his election, has been outed as prevaricators-in-chief of the democrat party.

Racist. Homophobic. Think up an epithet? Use it, as long as you maintain deniability and it's slanderous.

So, rather than looking at her record, you rely upon the din of rumour to assess her qualifications. Perhaps. Maybe you don't. But she has shown that she can navigate the waters of serious crony capitalism. And it's about time we drill.

Yes, Bolton as Sec of State. Kick the UN out of NY and rescind our membership.

EPA? First, it looks like there's been victory declared, in the war on Climate Change. James Delingpole lays it out. In addition, it also looks like we've found our next EPA head: Myron Ebell. No, I never heard of him, but Delingpole has, and likes him a lot. Just winning the election wasn't enough, of course. President Trump must make it mean something. Here's step one.

Together with Ebell at EPA, I would agree with the choice of Palin at Interior. Both of them together can really wack the leftist termites that live in those agencies.

Dr. Larry Arnn, currently head of Hillsdale College, would be ideal for Dept. of Education. He's interviewed and is on the transition team.

I thought Cruz was going to be chosen for Atty Gen, but Sessions will get that. Either would be great. Sessions helped Trump put together his foreign policy, and especially immigration positions together. Maybe Cruz, who spent five hours at the transition including an hour with Trump, will get another cabinet post.

@ OregonGuy

if you are replying to me, apparently you would rather assume that i am not familiar with Palin's record than realize that i am proposing an important position which would influence the party for years. so be it.

btw Tina Fey said it

ps i have lived and worked in Alaska

pps if you got "racist or homophobic" from what i wrote, you are long past medication time, buddy.

Mitt Romney for head of the VA. Forget Sec of State, that should go to someone with sense, but Romney is excellent at rescue missions. Like the Olympics.

There are rumors that Mike Huckaby will be ambassador to Israel. He's an ordained Baptist minister, and I understand very pro-Israel.

Ivana, Donald Trump's former wife, wants to be ambassador to the Czech Republic. It's where she's from, she is super intelligent, and she's been endorsed by the Czech president and PM.

@jlw

Nope. Tried for short. Just describing what I expect many critics of the Gov to be. Did not intend to impugn. If felt, apology. Just tired of Alinsky stuff. I've heard those epithets as a cure all for opposition research.

And while we're at it, how 'bout Col. Allen West for Secretary of Defense, and Herman Cain for Secretary of Commerce?

BTW, Lt. Col. Gen. Tailgunner Dick, I'm not so sure that
"Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet" is a Mattis coinage; it's a variation of something Uncle Sam's Misguided Children have been saying for
quite a long time. I learned it as "Be polite and professional to everyone you meet, but have a plan to kill them."
[Disclaimer: I am not a U.S. Marine; I've just been privileged to have known quite a few.]

OK this is more of a humorous suggestion. How about Christy Cream for Transportation Secretary. Kind of penance for blocking traffic off the bridge.

Stu, I think West for Defense and Cain for Commerce are very good choices.

Lots of good suggestions above- but I am relaxing in the certainty that President-Elect Donald Trump will make the right choices; and if one should fail him, then the immortal words "You're Fired!" will resonate down the corridors of power in Washington, sounding like the sound of trumpets. Ahhhhh. How sweet it sounds!

Now back to enjoying the Dance of the Melting Snowflakes!

(Sometimes I almost wish I hadn't cancelled cable, just so I could see the MSM dissolving into tears; but it isn't worth supporting that bunch of frauds for the short-term satisfaction.)
