What’s happening

On April 6, a Saturday, my wife Judy ... known to most of you as mother superior, and without warning, had a fatal heart-attack.  I’m still working my way through this.  This by way of explanation. Thank you.

I know there are no words that can ease your pain for your wife’s sudden passing or be of help at such a time but I want you to know how deeply sorry I am. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

It isn't given to us to understand the why of such things. We can only trust in God's infinite mercy and in His promise that we go on to a better life where there is no pain or sorrow. Believe in that and have faith in His wisdom and healing.

Please know you have my deepest sympathy.

Rodger,

There are few good words at a time like this. Know simply that prayers have gone out for her, for you, and all those she leaves behind. Know you will be in my thoughts and prayers. If you want or need to talk, let me know.

The Rose Still Grows Beyond The Wall

by

A. L. Frink

Near a shady wall a rose once grew,
Budded and blossomed in God's free light:
Watered and fed by morning dew,
Shedding its sweetness day and night.

As it grew and blossomed fair and tall,
Slowly rising to loftier height,
It came to a crevice in the wall,
Through which there shone a beam of light.

Onward it crept with added strength
With ne'er a thought of fear or pride,
It followed the light through the crevice length,
And unfolded itself on the other side.

The light, the dew, the broadening view
Were found the same as they were before.
And it lost itself in beauties new.
Breathing its fragrance more and more.

Shall claim of death cause us to grieve,
And make our courage faint or fall?
Nay, let us faith and hope receive,
The rose still grows beyond the wall.

Scattering fragrance far and wide,
Just as it did in days of yore.
Just as it did on the other side,
Just as it will forevermore.
