Children do tend to be literal. They have yet to develop those adult filters. :D

I had just received my "construction permit" from the F.C.C. to build my own radio station.

My mom had decided to come down to visit me and the boys before Father's Day. That weekend, we were planting stuff in the window box in the front of my house. While we were planting, I asked the question of what the "call letters" of my station should be.

My Number One Son, my Number Two Son, and my mother were at that moment, listening to my question's answer. My oldest son said, "Kay You En Tee" for "country."

My mother looked at me, with her shocked face. I said, "Nope, I think I'll name it after you, instead."

Which I did.

Mom gave me some heavy ups after that moment. I still regard it as a true, father moment. Support your kids when you can, offer alternatives that reinforce their own views of importance, and simply, don't embarrass your kids.

And now, that son has provided me a year old grand son. The eldest of the eldest of the eldest of the eldest of the eldest of the eldest. And that's how you build a patriarchy!
