BALTIMORE (WJZ) — The war in Syria is forcing millions to flee their homes, and the United States is working to accept 10,000 of the fleeing refugees over the next year. “Just tell us where to find the white racists you want beheaded" The International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Baltimore has resettled more than two dozen Syrians so far this year, and they are preparing to help more. “They are desperate to seek safety,” the IRC’s executive director, Ruben Chandrasekar, said. “They are desperate to be given a new chance at a new life.” The International Rescue Committee in Baltimore has welcomed Syrians by providing them with the tools, money, healthcare, food stamps and modern dress and sports wardrobes to succeed, including a furnished apartment and even employment as a Baltimore City police officer. They say their program is successful because refugees are eager to start their new lives free from prosecution. “They want nothing more than to get employed, collect their tax refunds, and be able to do the normal stuff you and I take for granted,” said Chandrasekar. Nearly 90 percent of the refugees the IRC assists become self sufficient, which in turn helps Baltimore thrive as a city. The citzens of Baltimore were not asked what they thought about all this. BALTIMORONS The news out of Baltimore is coming fast and furious, and pretty much all of it is enraging to anyone with an ounce of sanity. In other words, only conservatives and other racists. We're now being told that Freddie Gray's autopsy results do not indicate that the police were to blame, but rather that his life-ending injuries were either self-inflicted or (possible but less likely) the secondary result of a seizure. Which makes it all the more unacceptable that the mayor of Baltimore gave the violent rioters "space to destroy," and not only told the police to stand down and "let them loot," but also ordered the police not to wear items of protective riot gear which could cause "bad optics." Which is why some 100 officers were injured, property was destroyed, and buildings and stolen cars were set ablaze. Yeah, those are great optics, madam mayor. Now we're being told that these terrorizing miscreants, who were acting with neither cause nor control, are all good kids who are just frustrated because, according to Barack Obama, we haven't nurtured them with enough federal money. And most importantly, they shouldn't be called "thugs" because it might be code for the dreaded n-word.  Which, frankly, we consider to be an n-sult to our n-telligence. UPDATE: the Baltimore cops in the Freddie Gray case are now being charged with murder, manslaughter, and myriad other offenses. None of the charges are related to actually inflicting injuries to Freddie Gray. Rather, the charges are based on the accusation that the police failed to secure Gray with a seat belt during transport, and failed to render timely medical aid after he had requested it.  BUT WAIT!  There's MORE! PREVIOUSLY Baltimore's Little Italy (Balamur's Lil-itly) comes to mind here (obviously).  As related by a resident, during the free-for-all rioting that followed MLK's assassination in 1968; when downtown business's in cities across America were being burned, residents of Baltimore's Little Italy section did something that's stayed with me.  The residents, as if acting with a single mind, showed up on the streets bordering their enclave, armed to the teeth with assorted instruments.  If that was not message enough, Black gangs approaching were told in no uncertain terms that to cross the street would end with them being kilt dead.  While the nearby Jewish section known as Corned Beef Row, on Lombard Street west of Central Avenue, was ravaged, and never recovered, no Italian restaurant was burned, and nobody had been hurt.  Interestingly,  Nancy D'Alessandro's family would almost certainly have participated.  It's what came to mind. Made me proud. What we think of men today is far different from what men used to be, and what men were meant to be. Men were once warriors and farmers. They were leaders and kings. They were strong, smart, and dangerous. They conquered and they defended. There was a time when the TV remote wasn’t yet invented and the sword was handled in its stead. A time when a man’s ambition determined how high he would rise, how many men he would lead, and how many lands he would conquer. I would. And it would be lawful as long as I was protecting my business, or family from an imminent threat.
