Matt Micciche, Friends School of Baltimore, and the Intolerant Left The Washington Post ran a profile the other day of my friend Ryan Anderson. Ryan is perhaps the leading voice in the country in support of traditional marriage. He makes a very forceful, but also very civil argument, in defense of it. His work has been quoted by members of the United States Supreme Court. Ryan is one of the politest people you will meet and is constantly reviled by the gay rights community. Ryan is also a graduate of the Friends School of Baltimore. The school linked to the article about one of its alumni. But leftwing members of the school’s alumni community were outraged that the school would dare profile an alumnus of the school. So Matt Micciche, the head of the school, had to take down the post and apologize. In an academic setting, people did not want to confront .. an opposing argument, ...(OR)even the mention of someone who makes the opposing argument. Hilariously, one of the supporters of Micciche’s self-censorship applauded the decision in the name of equality. Others did so because of tolerance. Let’s get this right, folks. In the name of equality and tolerance, the school decided it could not tolerant an argument and could not treat it equally though the view is held by a large percentage of the American public. This is, ultimately, what is going to happen. The left, losing the argument in debate, will just shut it up, refuse to confront it, and pretend it does not exist. Again, I must point out that the left is only more tolerant of dissent than Islamic radicals in that they do not kill their opponents. They just censor them, drive them from the town square, and attempt to destroy their lives short of death. You will be made to care, folks. How dare a scholar with a Ph.D. from Notre Dame like Ryan Anderson believe the constitution recognizes marriage between a man and woman. That is, after all, his argument. Milbank, however, does not pin the onus on Obama for his lack of leadership, his wrong-headed policies, or his general disinterest in his job. In the heart of this column Milbank illustrates the liberal game plan at its worst. He is smug, smarmy, and never fails to remind the readers of liberalism’s assured moral superiority. He repeats the liberal echo chamber stock phrase that amnesty is “right” and “best for the country”, and that a politician should worry more about doing the right thing rather than political expediency. The repetition of these tiresome liberal hymns actually does serve to turn the daily debate in the Leftist favor. I followed the source for documentation which led to, as I remember, a quote from some MSNBC slug; that is to say—no documentation.  As foolish as all this is, there's a substantial audience who make decisions based on this sort of disinfo. Obama has derided most anti-terrorism protocols, even as he kept some Bush-Cheney policies — to the incoherent point that no one has any idea what the U.S. is doing. Jihad a personal odyssey? Muslim Brotherhood largely secular? Major Hasan’s murdering mere workplace violence? Outreach to Islam NASA’s primary mission? Remember overseas contingency operations and man-caused disasters? In the Obama war on terror, waterboarding three architects of 9/11 is our “folks” torturing their “folks”; but judge/jury/executioner drone strikes that blow up 2,000-plus suspected (not confessed) terrorists — and anyone in the general vicinity when the missile hits — are far more moral. Out of sight, out of mind. When CIA Director John Brennan speaks, we all assume he is not telling the truth, as in the past. Whatever the DC dictate is at the present, Brennan makes the necessary immoral adjustments. Past cabinet heads? No one knows exactly the circumstances under which Lisa Jackson, Hilda Solis — and even David Petraeus — left their offices. Iran and the bomb? Look to red lines in Syria for an example of how our Iranian threats will work out. One cannot distinguish parody from Obama’s Iranian policy. We worried more about sanctions hurting Iranians than forcing them to comply with non-proliferation promises. The world sort of likes the new reduced profile of the U.S. This is especially true of Russia, China, and Iran, as they fill the regional voids. The weaker we become, the more likely Obama is popular overseas, and the more likely the Left applauds his new global likability. In the Obama view, millions do not like Israel, Britain, or any pro-American Western democracy, and so applaud his new corrections. At home? Obama has wrecked our healthcare system. Every promise about the Affordable Care Act proved an outright lie. No one can define Obamacare or explain how it is supposed to work. In fact, no one really even tries any more. The budget? Obama’s legacy is ...
