Christophobic Nazism By Bruce Walker Totalitarian systems are militantly Christophobic.  The comments to some of my articles on the dangers of materialism or the ignorance of atheism try to prove that religion is as dangerous to goodness as atheism repeat the false "fact" that "Hitler was a Catholic."  This is utterly untrue.  Moreover, all Nazism was viciously Christophobic as well as Judeophobic. My American Thinker article of November 2007 covers some of the evidence found in old books about the hate all Nazis felt toward Christianity.  My book, Swastika against the Cross: The Nazi War on Christianity, covers many more documentary sources that reveal Nazi persecution of Christianity and Christianity's lonely war against Nazism.  Many writers at the time noted that Christianity was the only force resisting the Nazis in Europe. Indeed, there were many books about the Nazi persecution of Christianity and hatred of religion published before the Second World War began with titles like The Nazi Persecution of the Catholic Church in the Third Reich and The Nazi Persecution of Christianity and The War against God and Nazism versus Religion. Hitler before the Nazis came to power described himself to Martin Niemoller as "pagan to the core." Hitler stated, "Antiquity was better than modern times because it did not know Christianity and syphilis." Hundreds of authors writing before and during the Second World War saw Nazism and Christianity as mortal enemies.  These authors were Christians – both Catholics and Protestants – and Jews and agnostics.  They were on the right and on the left.  They were Frenchmen and Germans and Poles and Americans and Britons.  The convenient rewriting of history that invents out of whole cloth the notion that Christianity and Nazism were in any way linked runs utterly contrary to the historical record of the time. But were any leading Nazis Christians in any sense of the word?  Emphatically, no.  Consider first Hitler himself.  John Gunther noted as early as 1935 that "Hitler was born and brought up as a Roman Catholic.  But he lost his faith early and attends no religious services of any kind[.] ... On being formed his government almost immediately began a fierce religious war against Catholics, Protestants, and Jews alike." [snip] Albert Einstein, during the war, wrote: "Only the Church stood squarely across the path of Hitler's campaign for suppressing the truth.  I never had any special interest in the Church before, but now I feel a great affection and admiration for it because the Church alone has had the courage and persistence to stand for intellectual and moral freedom." I could go on, for dozens of pages and hundreds of quotes, but the historical record is quite clear: Nazis hated and feared Christianity as much as any totalitarian regimes in modern history.  Soviets, by the way, hated and feared Jews and Judaism about as much as the Nazis did.  These two great religions have proven indigestible to all great evils. On Wednesday’s broadcast of CNN’s “Erin Burnett OutFront,” anchor Erin Burnett teased a segment on the picture of evangelical leaders praying and placing their hands on President Trump by characterizing the image as “stunning” and “very strange.” Burnett previewed a segment on the picture before going to a commercial break by saying, “And next, a pretty stunning image. Let me just give you a quick peek of it. The president bowing his head in prayer in the Oval Office and all these people sort of touching him. It’s very strange. We’re going to tell you what happened there.”

Period.  Something very unusual happened after the Security Council voted to declare Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria as Arab/Islamic land. They clapped not so much in behalf of what they gave to “Palestinians” but more so in declaring the Jewish tie to the Old City of Jerusalem as illegitimate and Israel’s attachment to the Temple Mount and Judea and Samaria as illegal.  Rahm Emmanuel and David Axelrod were his chief strategists in the early years when the war against Netanyahu and Israel was launched by the White House. Wendy Sherman was his chief negotiator for the Iran Deal and Jack Lew was a chief advisor and, later, the Treasurer who figured out how to release the billions of dollars to the mullahs of Iran while convincing the Jewish community that “the Deal with Iran was in the best interest of Israel.” It was a celebration by too many of the nations of the world against the history of the Jewish People and their Covenant to the Holy Land. It was an act of anti-Semitism. While Obama finds it easy to socialize with leftwing Jews and employ Jews to implement his agenda and articulate his transnational narratives, he does have a problem with the concept of Jewish sovereignty in those places where he feels Islam must prevail.  His idea of Judaism, as he has stated, is for the Jewish people to sacrifice its aspirations in behalf of causes he considers more important: for example, the Black cause in America and the cause of Islam worldwide… and especially the cause of “Palestinians.” Truth is, Obama feels this way even regarding America -- that America should subsume its needs in behalf of movements and countries he deems more worthy. Obama has a strange morality.  So as to spare the honor and the good name of Islam he has refused to fight during his tenure in behalf of the millions of innocent Christians being killed by the bloody hands of radical Islamic forces, and has ignored the pain of victims of Islamic terror by focusing and sermonizing about “Islam as a religion of peace and tolerance.”  [FULL] There are by definition no Democrat pols who believe in God.

“ You Will Be Made to Care Vanderbilt University has decided student groups on campus cannot determine their own leadership. Consequently, a muslim can run the Christian group, a global warming skeptic can run the Earth First group, a Republican can run the College Democrats, etc. You get the idea. The rule came in part because, as you will not be surprised to learn, a Christian fraternity “had expelled several students for violating their behavior policy. One student said he was ousted You will be made to care. You’ll be made to care about gay marriage. You’ll be made to care about killing kids. You’ll be made to care about the influence of a secular culture on your children as they grow. You’ll be made to care about a host of issues. because he is gay.” Tish Harrison Warren wrote about this at Christianity Today. Her Christian group allowed anyone to be a member, “but it asks key student leaders—the executive council and small group leaders—to affirm its doctrinal statement, which outlines broad Christian orthodoxy and does not mention sexual conduct specifically. But the university saw belief statements themselves as suspect.” The first bit of Tish Harrison Warren’s column is really the most relevant part for my purposes here. I thought I was an acceptable kind of evangelical. I’m not a fundamentalist. My friends and I enjoy art, alcohol, and cultural engagement. We avoid spiritual clichés and buzzwords. We value authenticity, study, racial reconciliation, and social and environmental justice. A lot of Christians have long thought they could sit on the sidelines. Only the icky evangelicals they don’t much care for and the creepily committed Catholics would have to deal with these issues and the people who hate those deeply committed to their faith. They, on the other hand, could sit on the sidelines, roll their eyes, and tell everyone that they didn’t think it was that big a deal. They were, after all, on birth control or watching whatever trendy HBO series is on or having a cocktail or perfectly willing to bake a cake for a gay wedding. Nonetheless, the secularists at Vanderbilt kicked her Christian group off campus “for being the wrong kind of Christians.” My friend Matthew Lee Anderson has some thoughts on it. In part he writes, “if we do not grasp the joy of the martyrs, we do not understand them at all.” I tweeted out Matt’s post yesterday, but was reminded of it again today by my friend Nick. He sent me Rod Dreher’s piece on the whole thing. Folks, this is precisely why I started the saying “You will be made to care.” It all stemmed from a diarist here at RedState who took the position that gay marriage did not affect him, he did not care about it, and he would never care about. But, of course, you will be made to care. It is a larger issue than just gay marriage and many comfortably naive, living at the margins of faith, Christians, think they have a comfortable path through life in the United States. Put bluntly: if you do have a comfortable path through life with no fears at all of persecution, you probably are not a Christian. Islam may be about submission, but Christianity is about suffering.1 The suffering may not be major. It may be an accumulation of small sleights over time. It may be the loss of a friend or just the expulsion of your Christian group from your private school. But Christianity is a religion of suffering and persecution.  You may think you can sit on the sidelines. You may think you can opt-out of the culture war. You may think you can hide behind your trendy naked Leena Dunham t-shirt while you sip trendy drinks talking about trendy shows and writing columns demanding Christians be forced by the state to bake cakes, provide flowers and farms, and offer up photographs of gay weddings. But not only will you one day be called to account to your God for how you advanced his kingdom, but on this Earth you will be made to care. That does not mean you have license to be bitter or angry or hateful. You should love others and help others. Just do not expect anything in return. " sort of thing.   Now, I have been made to look deeper into the state or our culture, and the reasons why ... why all of it?   I won't evangelize, but it has become impossible for me to ignore.  Metzger summarized nicely with  "I'm not a practicing Christian, but ... as a strong believer in custom and tradition and ritual as the glue that keeps a culture intact .."  With the loss of those guardrails came this, today. Ten million words will not beging to summraize.  But, you know; you feel. War is declared against the Judeo-Christain ethic. Monsters have been embraced. Last week the ubiquitous "Anonymous" challenged a Tailgunner Dick comment with,   "But if you want to prove Mr. Dawkins is wrong it's necessary to prove that God does exist (which no-one has managed to do to date). I responded, but quicky deleted; it was the stuff of a range war.  On reflection though, my answer is that I am proven that God exists.  My suggestion to Anonymous would be to read ( to make it easier) Saint Thomas Aquinas's  Shorter Summa (or the even the more concise pony), and we can take it from there. But it's a sterile challenge,  for the same reason it's impossible to discuss, say, the 984 outrages against our rule of law perpetrated by this Liberal/Obama government:  Obamunists have their own media, their own history, their own wise men, and most importantly, their own statist religion and pope.  By the by, if Anonymous, or anyone else,  would like to know why I know God exists, I will be happy to answer  via e-mail,  for whatever that's worth.  I am of average intellect, and no match for the godless philosophers that  Dawkin's camp will utilize,like, say, Friedrich Nietzsche. “ After coming into contact with a religious man I always feel I must wash my hands. This was likely in response to a prayer vigil being conducted by pro-life activists at the same time nearby.     Des Moines activist Midge Slater took the podium and spent five and a half minutes thanking God for abortion rights, abortion doctors and taxpayer funding for abortions. She also referred to the decision to have an abortion as “a blessing”.     During the entire prayer, State Senator Jack Hatch and Rep. Tyler Olson, both of whom are running for governor, kept their heads bowed and eyes closed, joining in the group prayer. Nobody yet has told me how we might have a conversation with Democrats, and this is why.  There are none. No way.  Nada.  Let me define "Democrat," so there is no misunderstanding about whom we speak.  A Democrat voted for Obama.  The stain is indelible. ”

Speech “ One of the break-in drills for new  Dragon users is reading selected speeches—so the program can tune itself to your voice and speech pattern.  This is something it did very quickly, by the  way.  Anyway, I selected JFK's Inaugural Address.  When the speech was televised live, on 20 Jan, 1960,   I was out with a rented gas powered snow shovel, clearing neighborhood drive-ways.  There was a mighty blizzard going on, and I worked from early morning until 9:00 at night.  I cleared about $100, which is about $2 billion in today's money, before my dad tracked me down and made me stop.  I don't think I read the full text before (or any of it, actually.) His words, back then, were rather unremarkable; pretty standard stuff for any 1960 audience. The "Ask not what your country  .." line (that Kennedy copped from Junenval, a ca. 60 BC roman satirist) is really all most people remember.  But speak these opening words today.  Out loud. “ Vice President Johnson, Mr. Speaker, Mr. Chief Justice, President Eisenhower, Vice President Nixon, President Truman, Reverend Clergy, fellow citizens: We observe today not a victory of party but a celebration of freedom--symbolizing an end as well as a beginning--signifying renewal as well as change. "  (Who do atheists direct emergency supplications too? Really.)  Voltaire's "If there were no God, it would have been necessary to invent him,"  is I think spot on.  The  Progressive movement has adopted government as their god.  All this is by way of introducing something I found (via thoR) at Ann Barnhardt.  It's an encyclical from Pope Leo that I , as with most encyclicals from Popes, was unaware of.  Because in times of crisis people need guidance, if not outright direction, to help them carry on.  That's all I have to say.  Here's the direct link to the video, for them what needs it.
